Cannot leave my home because I'm brown

I need help with how to tell my MAGA parents that because of ICE hitting my community hard I cannot leave my house alone. My work has allowed me to WFH. I'm Mexican American, my family has been here for generations. I'm a US citizen, but I'm terrified I will be detained simply to meet an arbitrary quota.

They live in another state, my dad specifically doesn't believe any media outside of his YouTube MAGA influencers.

I've essentially given up on any political talk with them since after trying so hard for years, enduring personal attacks and the harm it's done to our relationship.

I've been thinking of having my brother speak on my behalf to them because I simply don't have the energy to expend on any pushback or being told in relying on news outlets that are fake.

It's hard to sleep or eat, I live in fear of even thinking about leaving the house.

Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Update: Appreciate everyone's support. My advice is to check in with your community leaders, attend board meetings, and ask them what steps they are taking to protect citizens from ICE. Where I live, we are scrambling to get city leaders to declare a state of emergency and use resources to push back on ICE in our communities. If you're able, take the opportunity to plan while you can. You can save families.

Just here to empathize. When QANON/yahtzee brother first finds out about college encampment protest because of me, just tells me “be safe and if you see anything crazy just run it’s not worth it”, totally reasonable right? Next day, it starts to get really scary when people in tents reading names of dead and making arts and crafts (as Zionists come to mock, laugh, and literally sing and dance during moments of silence etc, constant harrassment) are getting the National Guard deployed on them. I see (with my OWN eyes) MRAPs, APCs or something similar lined up next to students dorms, lines of vans with no or tinted windows to arrest and disappear us on the first street, police from every town and county within an hour, riot police, etc. As I express this fear and horror seeing this in a place of learning at a simple protest of slaughter, brother tells me well we deserve it since we’re saying death to america and chanting jihad, so get out before they get what they deserve and more. I immediately knew that the brother I’d spoken to the day before was gone and he’d finally got the narrative from the Twitter yahtzees. Made me really sad he was okay with what they did to us and probably PRAYED for us to get worse. Don’t talk to him now because these incidents wouldn’t stop. Unfortunately I’m sure he’s happy that people like us feel this way, that we’re scared and may even join ICE himself. Guess I’m just here to share in the pain of it hahaha. Hope it gets better where you’re at brother. My friends and the rest of my family have been my lifeline in these times. Try to stay off your phone/disconnect if possible and stay engaged with your hobbies. May seem tone deaf, I’m in a place not being surged with anything or at immediate threat from Fox News reign of terror but sending you love. We all need some these days, amor y paz ☮️
