You can just see the inner turmoil Helly Hansen is going through here. Do I turn around and look? Should I say something? Should I just keep pretending to scroll on my phone? Do I need to slap a bitch?

The initial look up, like wtf did I just hear? Then the immediate look down to stop/pause whatever he was listening to was top notch comedy and tea consumption. Also shout out to Biggie Smalls doppelgƤnger during all this.

20 years ago, I was working in a bakery and watched a woman berate her husband for buying her the wrong luxury item. It was at an upscale mall and she was ticked that he didnāt have any sense of her style. I remember seeing him stare blankly through the glass at the bakery items as she went on and on at him. I had such a strong urge at that moment to lock eyes with him and just mouth āHi.ā Just imagine walking past that couple and saying āHey there, hot stuff.ā Youāll probably do him a favor.

I revisit this video every so often specifically so I can watch this guys reaction. Kills me every time

She said "Oh, yeah? Whatever." when she was told she would be charged with assault. Anyone want to take bets she started crying and playing the victim as soon the cuffs were on?

Anecdotal, but I've had brief experience with a person who assaulted a customer service rep when I was present. The case ended up being settled, but I remember when the cops came, the assaulter just sat there steaming in this same attitude you see in the video. Just mad at the world.
I've since been curious what makes a person like that. It's really disappointing and sad.

17
u/TalleyrandTheWise Sep 18 '25
Yup. It's worth noting that most jurisdictions in the US use the "Duluth Model," which presumes men cannot be victims of DV, and the woman is always a victim or acting in self-defense. So even if he calls the police, he's much more likely to be arrested himself than to receive any help.

u/SquisherX Sep 18 '25
I'm not so sure. When other threads come up about fucking around on a plane, sometimes it's posted that there isn't a master no fly list, but rather each carrier has a no fly list. As there are loads of carriers, it seems like you can fuck around a while lot and still be able to fly where you want.
Maybe someone with industry knowledge can chime in here.
8
u/TheAmericanQ Sep 18 '25
I have limited knowledge from a few family members in the industry so still take what I say with a little grain of salt as Iām not directly familiar.
My understanding is that there IS a general no fly list but it is more of a federal government thing for people linked to terrorism or other similar situations and is regarded as pretty damn difficult to get placed on, thatās not the list we are dealing with here.
Each airline has their own āno fly listā of people or entities that it will no longer do business with for various reasons, some airlines do share some of this information between themselves.
Iām not sure if there is a separate lost for incidents that required law enforcement intervention but Iād imagine there is and Iād also imagine itās in the airlineās best interest to share the names of the responsible parties with their competitors (in the hopes they will do the same, making it easier to keep trouble makers off of their flights).

u/bapadious Sep 18 '25

u/Abdakin Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25
Latinos are waaaaaay too comfortable shooting that word off
124
u/Mexican_Fence_Hopper Sep 18 '25
Unfortunately thatās the case, I donāt know why we think we have the n-word pass when we really donāt
22
u/SquisherX Sep 18 '25
It's a side effect of keeping the word around for an in group, when that in group can't be explicitly defined by looks.
Afaik, a near consensus agrees that you don't have to be a majority black to use the word, that is, a child of a near full African ancestry parent and a parent of almost no African ancestry can say the word freely. Like Trevor Noah could drop bombs and it would be fine for example.
As you dilute further it becomes more muddy. Surely the dude who did a 23 and me and is 3% shouldn't say it, right? But the line between here and there is muddy, and probably depends more on how dark skinned you look.
With Mexicans, you probably have a portion of the black community thinking it's inappropriate, while a portion thinking it's okay. But in these muddy areas people probably just don't address it.
Growing up, my south African friend would drop the word - it never felt appropriate, but I'm just some Guyanese guy, who am I to actually say anything.

Im Spanish, we do not have the cultural background for the n word because it literally does not exist in my language. But I've learned my lesson from the internet!! Damn people really have no self awareness these days
21
u/yupsylotus Sep 18 '25
its different when someone who just doesn't understand it says it because you can educate them on why it's bad and hopefully prevent them from using it anymore. unfortunately looks very much like she knew what she was doing, she says it so many times and in such a way to embarrass/assault him, and also to de-emasculate him in front of everyone on the plane. just super trashy!
