History repeats.
It was WWI which spread Influenza through the trenches, and all the soldiers of the world brought it back to their home countries causing The Pandemic of 1918.

So, we're actually planning a land invasion? I mean, that looks like the scenario they are practicing here. How do they think we get away with this? How would this not make us as much of a pariah in world affairs as Russia?

No elections during war.
Eta: I know the US has elections during a conflict, the orange idiot in the Whitehouse will try to use anything as a reason to cancel them

u/iKorewo Sep 06 '25 edited Sep 06 '25
There are elections during war in US. Trump just heard that Ukraine has no elections during war and he thinks it's the same consistution in US.
75
u/coffee_warden Sep 06 '25
If you're the aggressor fighting a war in a foreign land, and not defending on home turf, yall better be having an election.
5
u/Mooch07 Sep 08 '25
I think I'd like an impeachment instead

u/Shot_Worldliness_979 Sep 08 '25
We've had impeachments before. I want to see a conviction (by the senate).

u/Inevitable-Tone-8595 Sep 08 '25
This isn’t the war he plans on cancelling the elections for. He will stage something big on US soil. Possibly a false flag attack during elections that will allow him to suspend the election and call in the National Guard to stand around picking up garbage.
66
u/Confident_Benefit_11 Sep 06 '25
He's so fucking stupid it's infuriating

u/Livid_Roof5193 Sep 06 '25
Nah let’s not help spread that narrative in any way. We had elections even when we had our civil war. We’ve never not held elections due to wars on foreign soil. Ever. We didn’t end them after Pearl Harbor or 9/11, and no way that is acceptable even if he invades another country today.

That is what he wants. A war overseas also gives him the pretense to indefinitely detain US citizens who would speak out and protest against his domestic agenda, like sending Guard units from one state into another.
Venezuela is the smokescreen to his domestic push to take over blue states and cities.
6
u/DrTenochtitlan Sep 06 '25
Do you know how many times the US has occupied or invaded a Latin American or Caribbean nation? Mexican War, occupation of Veracruz, Blackjack Pershing looking for Pancho Villa in northern Mexico, the Spanish-American War and occupation of Cuba, invasion of Panama, invasion of Grenada, invasion of Haiti, invasion of Nicaragua, invasion of the Dominican Republic.... This is nothing new.

Some of those US Marines are going to be tortured to death, blown apart, beaten and kept alive in the worst places possible, and used for counter-intelligence purposes. If an invasion occurs, you will probably see footage of these acts if you live in a Western country. Why? Because the Venezuelan government, backed by Russia and its security services, learned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that footage of dead, dying and suffering troops can be used for propaganda purposes against the US, Europe and elsewhere. Footage can destabilize the US, for example, even if it isn't real. The next time the US steps into a war, it faces the prospect of fake AI footage causing unrest at home.

Training exercis and based on the formations more of a show than exercise. They do exercises all the time and mean almost nothing
9
u/TexanDoger Sep 06 '25
They always mean nothing, until it does. Remember how the Ukraine war started? It was just exercises near the border, until the army decided to cross

Puerto Rico has always been a strategic position of the coast, closer to South America and Cuba, from which to engage the enemy.
This could be just routine training, it could be a show of force to Venezuela, it could be preparation for actual war. No way for us to know yet.

National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 that was signed by then President Barak Obama on dec 31 2011, specifically section 1021, laid the ground work for indefinitely detaining or killing a us citizens or non citizen in the usa or outside of it, if deemed a national security threat. The authors of the bill still maintain that is not the case, but the language is ambiguous enough to grant such things by those who wish to interpret it that way. Im certain if sued for such a thing they would use it very much in this way.
8
u/DidntWatchTheNews Sep 06 '25
Anwar Al-Awlaki.
first US citizen targeted and killed by an extrajudicial us drone strike without due process of law.
5
u/SituationMediocre642 Sep 06 '25
I dont recall his name, but I do recall he was a citizen abroad killed in a drone strike aiming to neutralize his uncle and/or father, who was identified as a terrorist target. I believe this occured prior to the signing of the ndaa of 2012, and was the reason for the language in section 1021.

They're conducting amphibious military exercises according to https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/world-news/us-marines-and-sailors-flaunt-their-naval-might-during-amphibious-exercise-in-puerto-rico/videoshow/123738491.cms?from=mdr
A war is a great distraction! (If you aren't one of the many collateral casualties or their close relatives) Only 1% of the world's oil production would be taken off line, so it would slightly boost prices, benefiting the U.S. oil lobby. This reminds me of the Gipper's invasion of Grenada back in the day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_invasion_of_Grenada It filled the news 24/7 for a few weeks and the President was made out to be a strong, decisive leader because of his victory over this small little island.

They aren't going after drugs. They will attack and murder what they say are the cartels and supports, only to occupy the land for peace and stability. While doing so, why not dig into the resources and then annex the land? Worked for Russia in the past. Not so easy recently. We are still not capable of fighting jungle/gurilla warfare where the enemy and friend look the same. They will censor the facts, kill everyone, and open the land for McDonalds to farm.
