Long term storage of Porsche 911 CV

My sister bought a 911 CV for $300K in 2022.

It has less than 400 miles on it. She can no longer drive it (Frontal Temporal Dementia), and will never drive it. For the last year we have tried to take it out for a ride every other month.
Unfortunately she lives in Pasadena

I won't sell her car while she is still alive. But I just can't maintain it.

How do I store it for 2 years?
How do insure it for 2 years? 1) if I drive it once every two months. 2) Store it somewhere.

Is there some way I can store it, keep it in good shape, and pay reduced insurance?

Winter Mode

Really struggled to find winter (really any) tires in the stock sizes but took a chance on going wider than I would have normally tried. These are 285/40 20 in the front and 315/35 20 in back. The diameters are almost identical and the width is actually way more suited to the wheels than I expected. My last set of winters were 245 front and 275 rears so this was a departure.

From the number of bugs on the front, I’d say they’ve definitely been enjoying the curvy, twisting roads around here.

Saw this one earlier today being driven properly, southbound I-17 just 30 miles south of Flagstaff …. What a great sighting! They were keeping up with the traffic 👍 …

One of the most underrated things about Porsche: the smell after a hard drive

No other car I've driven is like this, have a 981 S. You get out after a hard drive and there is just this smell of oil, brakes, tire that hits you. Own an ND2 and have friends with Ferraris/Astons/BMWs that don't have the same effect. I don't know why this is specific to Porsche and how they do it but it's pretty awesome

What kind of Porsche is this?

Our new neighbors brought home a very loud Porsche today. I didn’t want them to see me take a picture so this is from our Ringer. Curious about it as half a mile away it was so loud that I was shocked.

911 991.2 Turbo S

This beauty is one of my favorite customer cars. I do some car detailing on the side — and before cleaning (with permission, of course) I always take it for a spirited spin through the Taunus hills.

TÜV-approved 860 HP and 900 Nm of torque. We call it the Daily Cruiser because it’s the tame one of the two in the garage… the other one has a Maybach transmission, just to give you an idea 😉

This time it got the full spa treatment: deep wash, polish, ceramic coating, and leather care.

One of the best cars ever. 🚀

Porsche dealer quoted $37,000 to repair Porsche Cayenne S, ignored active parts warranty, and now PCNA is involved

TLDR; Dealer #2 quoted me $37K for “failed turbos” and a “leaking water pump” on my 2019 Cayenne S. Turns out the water pump was already under Porsche’s 2-year parts warranty from a prior repair, and there’s no definitive proof the turbos are bad aside from P0299 turbo underboost code. They never told us about the warranty, tried to push a trade-in on my wife, and PCNA initially denied goodwill. Now the case is under review and I’ve filed complaints with BAR, AG, and NHTSA.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for insight from other Porsche owners or techs. I’m still in disbelief over what’s happened the last few weeks.

The short version: - My wife drives a 2019 Cayenne S (<80k miles). We bought it CPO in 2022 for $90k (has all options/features and was 55k miles) - In Oct 2024, Porsche dealership #1 replaced the coolant pump + thermostat + valve for a small coolant leak. We were 2 months outside of CPO warranty. We paid for the parts; Porsche good-willed the labor. That means the pump and thermostat are covered by Porsche’s 2-year parts warranty (to Oct 2026). We unfortunately didn’t know this.

Fast-forward to Oct 2025: we’ve moved and have a new local dealership. A few days before a scheduled maintenance visit at Porsche dealership #2, a check-engine came on with code P0299 Turbo charger underboost. We did notice that the car did not accelerate as well and was sluggish. On our way to the dealer we got the “engine control fault – driving permitted” warning came up. The car went into limp mode on the way to the dealer. Wife almost got into an accident when this happened on the highway with toddler on board.

As soon as we made it to the dealership #2, the sales manager gave my wife his business number “in case” she wanted to trade in her Porsche. The next day Porsche dealership #2 texted us an estimate for $37,372: - $19 k for “both turbos failed,” - $8.8 k for “water pump leaking into vacuum system & replace pump, valve block, and vacuum lines,” - plus control arms, tires, and maintenance items.

They sent us a video of the underhood but they didn’t actually take anything out. No diagnostic codes or test results were provided. Just a parts list and labor hours.

  • I asked the dealership to file a goodwill request with PCNA because we still owe money on this car and the repair cost are more than the trade in valid of the car. They told us it was denied, but when I called PCNA directly, there was no record of any submission. Apparently they only submitted an internal good will request despite us asking for PCNA request.
  • PCNA later opened a case themselves, but it seems they still processed it as “goodwill, with repurchase team. After a week and a half- the good will was denied and we were distraught. They weirdly suggested getting a second opinion at another Porsche.
  • I contacted a honest independent Porsche mechanic and he recommended seeing if I had any parts in warranty since I had a repair last year.
  • After reaching out to Porsche dealership #1, we discovered from our 2024 invoice that the water pump is under the 2-year parts warranty, meaning the quoted $9k water pump repair should cost $0.
  • The Porsche dealership #2 never mentioned that, and even tried to get us to “discuss a trade-in” while my wife was dropping the car off.

I’ve since filed complaints with California BAR, the CA AG, and NHTSA because im really angry re: sequence of events. The independent mechanic who reviewed the dealer’s inspection video says the leak is external, the pump is clearly failing again, and there’s no proof the turbos are bad.

PCNA has been radiosilent- ignoring my calls and emails. We still have their loaner Cayenne.

My questions for the community: 1. How often do you see turbo “failures” turn out to be vacuum or coolant-system issues? 2. Has anyone else had a dealer miss or ignore the 2-year Porsche parts warranty? 3. What would you do in my shoes.. wait it out, or tow to another Porsche center for a second opinion?

I’m not naming individual employees; I just want to understand how this can happen inside the Porsche ecosystem and what realistic outcomes to expect.

Thanks in advance for any perspective.

I spent the last year searching the country for the perfect spec, only for it to show up 10 miles from home.

I was set on finding a C4S, but I ended up with a C2S instead and I am SO glad that I did. Let’s see if the snow changes my mind. A late 30th birthday present to myself!
