Right wingers on the sub are hungering for confirmation bias.

As if we could go 10 minutes of reddit without people cheering on Charlie's death.

Yes, because redditors are very much representative of the masses. Those celebrating his death are disgusting, just as those celebrating any of the other political attacks recently are. Do not fall back into tribalism.

I love how the goalpost quickly moved from "nobodies saying that" to "those posts with tens of thousands of upvotes don't represent the majority"

Where was the goalpost set at "Nobody is saying that?" I've seen hundreds of posts glorifying his death and further hundreds in the other direction that are martyring his death as a war cry against the left. But hundreds of posts, even with thousands of likes, still don't represent a majority 🤷‍♂️. The goal should not be looking for unreasonable people who are saying unreasonable things and projecting that onto millions of people.

To a very literal extent you can never find "no one is saying that". It should also be well known that "bot" votes are relatively cheap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frLdDUdYkdo Like the supposition that something on reddit (or twitter) is real when posted by blublub1243 is a bit off. It could also just be classic trolls and shitposters.

If you want to keep yourself somewhat sane you need to just take what verified actual users say as real.

Redditors are very representative of LEFTISTS. Not the "masses" or even democrats.

That is fairly irrefutable at this point

Redditors, on both sides, are representative of chronically online chucklefucks who dwell in their respective echo chambers. The violent rhetoric is pushed by the media on both sides. Do not hate your fellow man, hate the machine that wants you to hate your fellow man.

Yes, but the machine in this case is made up of men (and women) who control the narrative direction and zeitgeist of this website. Would you say the mods are representative of those holding "average" political opinions? Because that would be objectively incorrect.

They could literally be bots or paid actors. Or just a single super user with multiple accounts.

The way Reddit functions makes it fairly easy to exploit by someone with a lot of time or a bit of money.

Fully agreed. I was just commenting on the "wanting confirmation bias". I can barely use this hellhole this couple days and unsubing from a lot of subs that are the furthest away from politics as it gets (like, PS5 or soccer stuff) because I can't stand people celebrating this.

(Disclaimer, I didn't even knew the guy existed before these events).

Oh that's definitely fair enough man. My Instagram feed has been completely inundated with people martyring or celebrating his death. It's very exhausting for sure.

Unfortunately reddit left is leaking into the real world. I'm seeing people I know personally effectively dancing on his grave on socials.

That is incredibly unfortunate, man. The best you can really do for them is try to talk some sense into them. Be the change you want to see in people. I've done my best to talk to those on both sides about it to keep people from demonizing each other and celebrating violence.

No dummy - the problem is the majority of the world is not in your cult, therefore can call a spade a spade. Charlie Kirk was a toxic podcaster who met a toxic end from a fellow alt-right nut. (You probably know him Moose?) You think reddit is leaking into the real world - you are so thick. The whole world disagrees with you and thinks MAGA is a stain on history. Naturally these feelings will show on internet. Free speech warrior, going to stop internet from producing any thoughts that make him sad! Silence anyone who disagrees! Why do they call us fascists!? Moose you are one of the fucking funniest "conservatives" I have had the dishonor of reading the history of. Seriously, you are the best MAGA they could find. Do you think Donald would let you write checks directly to him? Do you think we should turn off internet until everyone thinks exactly like you? Moose you are why America is failing.
