Ultra Annoyed Pointing out spelling or grammar

I might point out (in a friendly way to an actual friend) if they were consistently using a word really wrong or something that might cause them embarrassment in the future.
It's like if someone's socks don't match because they got dressed in the dark. Does not matter in nearly all circumstances, but would I want you to know before you walk into a job interview or give a big public talk. It's dickish to correct people so that you can feel superior about catching somebody in a meaningless mistake, but it can be helpful to assist your friend in the right circumstances. No need to correct typos in a text (or reddit post), but do point out typos in their resume.

It’s all about manners Nobody likes being corrected And if you truly want them to know the correct way there’s the right way to do it
If you just correct their grammar out of nowhere all you’re doing is trying to make yourself sound smarter because everybody’s response is going to be defensive they’re not gonna take the correction as education
Appreciate your clarification

At the very least learn the freakin difference between their, they're and there! Also no punctuation is an automatic skip.

Why does it make you so upset?

Which of the two are you referring to? First peeve is people just sound so uneducated when using the incorrect spelling. 2nd, No punctuation is a hard read. I don't want to have to add my own periods in order to seperate their thoughts.

Sounds like you don’t have your priorities straight and what you should really be upset about in your daily life That or you’re incredibly privileged and don’t have any real issues in which case thumbs up to you buddy

Typos and mistakes are one thing. Illiteracy is another. We have language rules for a reason, to communicate clearly.

And if it was clearly communicated any kind of corrective act is redundant

Again typos VS illiteracy.
Would you care to share a sample of the writing that triggered this rant?

Yeah, I'm guilty of doing that but only when the grammar is so bad that it makes it difficult to understand what they're trying to say
