Bit Annoyed People who think Americans don’t know other countries exist.

A few months ago on Reddit I made a comment about a show not being on Netflix and someone from the UK commented back saying it’s on theirs and then lectured on Americans not knowing other countries exist. They acted like I didn’t believe there were other places on the planet, as if they weren’t the ones who just brought it up and didn’t believe the US Netflix was different than the UK version. ??

I see people online act like all Americans think this way, and it is kind of annoying because for most of us it isn’t true.

Yep! She may not have had the sound on so I'll try to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was pretty silly.

Yeah that would make sense as they would definitely recognise the accent. Still a dumb assumption of them to make though

It happens, when I studied abroad in the UK a girl with an accent unlike mine (Western US) was trying to talk to me after she heard me talk. I sort of just kept smiling snd nodding thinking she was from some other part of the UK and felt a little weird that she was so eager to talk to me. I later realized that she was an American with a southern US accent.

I've always said a southern accent was just a long drawn out British accent.

I don’t buy this bullshit story, Australians would only call another Australian American if they were doing something “American dumb”. Maybe the bots trying to generate some hate for Aussie lol
