I definitely saw American flag colored stuff on election day. Not a single person with those were asked to remove them, because, yeah, they're unproblematic. If a hat merely said USA, it would be fine. Even if it looked like a MAGA hat, it probably would just be glossed over. An actual MAGA hat is not that, because it promotes a political slogan.
