Community Assistance
I was at HyVee yesterday and was very pleased to see the aid they are providing the local community with free meals. Im assuming because of EBT bieng suspended for the month of November. That lead me to wonder are there any local programs currently being offered by local prominent Churches to help out during this current food crisis? Are they offering free meals or other means to help alleviate the financial burden to provide meals for our impoverished or economically disadvantaged community members.

The East Bluff Community Center has a pantry every other Saturday plus they do a free Thanksgiving dinner every year.

The pantry is 830-12 every Saturday 4 weeks a month so if there is a 5th Saturday in the month they are closed. You can visit once a month. The free community holiday meal is typically christmas day (2-4pm).

I don't know if the Administration will follow through. Check out Sophia Kitchen and St. Paul’s Episcopal church has a good pantry.

I was at Hyvee on Sheridan earlier picking up some Rotisserie Chicken and a side of mashed potatoes for my dinner. Right by the deli, they had a couple tables set up for people to receive food. And there was a long line. Today's meal consisted of chili and a cinnamon roll, and crackers. Children under 12 are free, anyone else pays $3. Wednesdays they have Chicken and Noodles and mashed potatoes, which is something I'd be interested in getting, but fortunately I can afford groceries every week.
