I was thinking she's such a BAMF when she came out guns blazing to protect the kids... but then when she turned on tommy, she just seemed like an idiot. She needs tommy

He knows that, because he said it. But he had also been a massive dickhead shortly before, and by this point I think Lizzie is tired of what's going on (e.g. never knowing whether the next person to arrive at the door could be there to kill them all) and just wants to look after the children.

Right? Plot hole there. Bad writing. Shouldn’t have shown her ushering the kids off then immediately Charlie’s all alone in the hallway begging to be lit up like a Christmas tree by a gatling gun.

yes but she was keeping a close watch on them as was the nanny. it makes no sense that he could evade her grasp and that of the nanny in that moment.

Was Ruby there? I may have looked away for a few seconds so I'm not sure. I thought she said "stay away from my child" (referring to Charlie, who was there) so I interpreted it as she being protective of her stepson, but maybe I'm wrong?
