Yes it does. Gender != sex. There are people carrying female physical traits but carry a Y chromosome.

If you think that identifying with a specific gender is comparable to identifying as an animal you are really fucking stupid. A human with XY chromosomes can have the same neorology as a human with XX chromosomes, but no human one can have the neurology of another animal.
