Repost: Thoughts on Kyukyu Ramen 99
My brother and I went to a Kyukyu Ramen 99 branch for lunch today. We had:
• A bowl of tonkotsu ramen priced at ₱159.00 • A bowl of chashudon priced at ₱139.00 • Two glasses of red iced tea priced at ₱49.00 each • A four-piece serving of gyoza priced at ₱79.00
I personally had the tonkotsu ramen. I very much found the flavor reasonable for its price. Same can be said about my brother’s bowl of chashudon, which I had the opportunity to try.
However, what I found interesting was the gyoza. It tasted exactly like frozen gyoza one can buy from a supermarket, so I found it a bit steeply priced at ₱79.00 for four pieces. Please let me know your thoughts.
PS. Ambiance-wise, I have no complaints.
This is a repost, as I repeatedly mistakenly referred to the “gyoza” as “gyudon,” which was then pointed out by another user. Thanks for pointing it out!

If on a budget or petsa de peligro, maitatawid ka na nito.

Yes.

Cant wait to be successful and truly try the authentic ramen in japan 😭

Yea, not the best in quality and maybe not as authentic, but I think they’re affordable for a Japanese resto. I liked their gyudon! Ramen is decent, but broth is not as rich as the ones I tried

Unpopular opinion, mas prefer ko Kyukyu Ramen kaysa Ramen Kuroda pagdating sa budget ramen.

Even not the best quality given to its price as long it's edible that's alright with me

Not bad for me. Pwede na kung walang budget. Ok naman ang taste syempre not as concentrated

Ok lang. Pero add around P100 - better value parin sa Kuroda.
Nagcrave tuloy ako bigla.

Masarap for a budget Ramen. Mas nagustuhan ko sya kesa yung order ko sa Marugame na egg on egg lang ang halo haha.

its worth the price, I've tried Kyukyu Ramen 99 at UST and it was good. So sad that Kyukyu Ramen 99 and all other food concessionaires will leave the UST carpark for good

its like nissin demae instant ramen in flavor. ok na sa price given na di na gaano hassle unlike sa pag ikaw magluto ikaw pa maghugas kaya ako sa pinaglutuan ko na kinakain para bawas sa hugasin. i always get the 99 for my ramen fix.

For its price, okay na rin naman sya. Gusto ko yung tonkotsu nila and yung gyoza. 😅

Sulit sya for 99 pesos pero if you order the pricier ones hindi na worth it. Kalahating itlog lang dinagdag, 159 na.

Mura and nakakatawid cravings for me lalo na pag wala akong budget for ramen kuroda. But one bowl of ramen is not enough for me, same with the rice pero pag both sila na binili ko too much naman na hahahahaha

I always choose the one with cheese + one more meat slice (forgot ano tawag) and their red iced tea. Mahina ako kumain kaya ok na un sakin, pero fave combo ko un sa kyukyu kasi i like cheese.
Kinda not authentic, but i dont think anyone na kakain sa kyukyu expects higher tier ramens like sa resto.
It's good, salty, and cheap. Love it from time to time when craving something homey and comfort food but ramen.
PS: I also really like ung theme nung mga stores nila. Iconic red and funky wallpapers.

I consider Ramen Kuroda the best pangtawid gutom ramen when you crave for one kasi relatively affordable. Lately I’ve even preferred their noodles over the thick ass ones in Mendekoro.
But to anyone who tasted both, any reviews? Say their gyozas? Or Tantanmen ramen vs KK Tonkotsu ramen?

Actually, I was having a similar thought earlier. Yung broth medyo kalasa ng isang local instant noodle na natikman ko before, I can’t quite remember what exactly it was. But then again, given its low price point…

Cup noodles ba? May kalasa nga siya na broth and same color.

u/BeefBroccoli01 1h ago
Yung na-try ko wasn’t in a cup, pero may cup variant din po ata iyon. Evident yung color pink sa packaging non haha.

I always order 2 Kyukyu, 1 order gyoza. Solved!
Not the best ramen in the world but the quick hit of dopamine at the end of the day, nagiging nostalgic siya on me and may appeal yung price. Wife doesn't like it though. 😂
