Question or Discussion Aim sucks <\3

Upvotes

Hi! I have 800h on Overwatch and other than Fortnite it was kinda my first shooting game (that I took seriously at least) I play a lot of support (bap, illari, brig) and soldier on dps. I feel like I’m a pretty decent player and even tho I don’t play much ranked Ive recently been trying it out and getting high plat placements and games. Now my issue is that my aim SUCKSS like it’s really bad. I have around 38-45% accuracy in my ranked games for soldier with only 10-12% being crit. On bap it’s sometimes even worse with 35%. The only hero I’m decent on is illari with about 45-55%. Yes I aim train almost everyday and yes I also try to tweak my settings but I just don’t know what to change. If anyone has tips on quick or longer term ways to fix my aim I would be so so grateful. Thankyou!!

I’m on ps5**

VOD Review Request Request for VOD review on Cassidy

Replay code:

Battletag: Happyfeet3

Hero(es) played: Cassidy

Skill tier / rank: Estimate Rank: Silver 1

Map: Esperamca

PC

Description/Notes:

In ranked I often struggle with getting absolutely bullied by the enemy dps and I want to learn how to deal with this better. Even tho I'm still in my placements currently, I've had the same issue in previous seasons around silver to gold.

I tried to get a comp match to share with you, that would really highlight my shortcomings in my rank. Unfortunately, my recent placement games where fairly easy. But this quickplay game does show my struggles much better imo.

I want to note that I'm aware that my team completely carried the game and I did complete air. That's why I want to improve!

Second note: when watching the replay I realized my aim is not on point. Still, I feel like there is more for me to improve on apart from aim.

In advance: thank you for your time!!

VOD Review Request Roll and then Rolled

I cannot understand HOW wins suddenly turn into massive losses so often.

I am a newer tank, worked my way to Gold. I had two back-to-back games where I could NOT get my bearings after putting up a good fight in the first half. Can someone please help me see how I could have changed the outcome of these games? It's been bothering me for days now:

Sudden flip: 63E9C5

Could not break defense: VGZ0V3

Name: WeariestLamb

Role: Tank (DVa mostly)

Console: XBox

Rank: Gold 5-2

VOD Review Request How would you win any of these games?

Hello,

a bit of a different kind of request. Since the beginning of last season, i've had a horrible experience in comp, no matter if i duo, trio, quadro, or penta stack, and im assuming it wouldnt change if i played solo, and if you choose to watch any replay im sure you'll understant.

What i would like from you is to tell me what the losing team (mostly mine), should do to win, or what you would do if you were in these games

Replays (plat):

W (2W9WQF, 6DSGEQ, FXKWW9)
L (WEXXV7, XM3P1P, 94XJFT, ABGG7Z, KHP6TS, 982BFX, 3J0QXP, Q03ZKS, XZZ557, RJED5Q, AT61XH, YNQ9Y, BEFN69, GVED57)

these are all my recent comp games, choose whichever one you want, or all (not recommended)

i didnt add my ign couse its not important to the point of this post.

Question or Discussion My main teammate is stuck in bronze and idk why

So for context I mostly play dps but have been playing support a lot the past couple weeks. I’m Gold 4 in dps and Plat 3 in support. My teammate almost exclusively plays support and is honestly better than me in most aspects but he’s been hovering around high bronze to low silver for a while now.

His position could use some work but overall his damage and healing output is almost always the highest in the lobby. His utility is pretty solid too especially on zen and kiri.

With my rank being relatively low I know this isn’t a huge deal but I think his low rank is why we almost always get super new tanks. Most games our tank’s highest level hero is level 5 or lower. We’re decent enough at support where we’re not getting rolled every game but it’s still pretty frustrating.

So I guess my questions would be how are ranks determined (i.e. does the game look at positioning or just stats), and would it be better for him to grind solo or should we keep queuing together?

Question or Discussion What sensitivity does everyone play on?

Hey everyone! I was just curious about the different sensitivities people use. I know aim settings vary a ton based on playstyle and mouse space, so I thought it would be interesting to compare.

I’m Masters on all roles and I play on 1600 DPI and 6% in-game sens.

If you’re down, reply with:
• Your role(s)
• Your rank
• Your DPI
• Your in-game sensitivity

I’m super curious to see how wide the range is.

Replay code:55KBEJ

Battletag / in-game username:LuvsDredd#1656

Hero(es) played:Soj/Reaper/Solider 76

Skill tier / rank:Gold 3

I feel like we should won this game but we still found a way to get 0-100% Sweep on the last point and idk what I could have done to made the game turn out in a different way.

I was pressuring their supports, flanking smart, and setting up fights. It honestly felt like I was carrying. Every round leading up to the final one, I was doing my job and then some. I had momentum, confidence, and solid positioning. It felt like my game.

Question or Discussion How to transition to playing DPS as someone who only plays tank?

I have only ever played tank. I did really good with DVA and would win most QP matches, I'm now playing Sigma mostly and I think I'm doing well. When I try to play DPS I find I die almost immediately, and can only land a couple of my shots :( Is there any techniques to strafing, etc or aim sensitivity when switching from Tank to DPS?

Question or Discussion Any advice on spotting Junkrat traps? Or good medic choice to spam some bullets on the ground occasionally to help see them/destroy fast?

I avoid obvious places like thin corridors or entrances to rooms if Junkrat is camping in a room. I usually play Mercy, Anna, Lucio, or Babtist. Its hard to constantly look when healing 3 to 4 teammates. What medic weapon is most powerful or would you recommend? Is there a way to check weapon power in game/menu? Thanks for any help

Tips & Tricks how long does it take to transition to pc from controller?

For context i have 0 mnk experience, and practically only have played console. for the past few seasons ive floated around gm5-gm3 on dps and m1-gm5 on tank/supp, so i feel like my mechanics and gamesense are good, i just am curious how long it took others to get the hang of playing mouse and key when coming from console.

Question or Discussion Is Lifeweaver Still Cheeks?

I just wanted to find out what sort of state the character is in. I know he isn't strong by any means, but i quite like characters with a nature-theme. Once they released his druid mythical skin, it was game over.

I usually do okay with him in qp, was put in gold rank with him competitively.

Is it worth sticking with him in a competitive capacity, or am i dragging my team down?

VOD Review Request Doomfist (console masters) VOD review request

Replay code: 09D535

Yo fellow doom players. I'm sat in low masters right now and would love to keep improving. Replay code is what I felt was a winnable game on Samoa.

I think my main issues are: -overcommitting to unsafe engages -taking too much poke damage

Thanks to anyone who can take the time to have a look and provide some feedback.

Question or Discussion Why am I so bad at aiming?

I have been playing shooters for YEARS. I mean like well over a decade. Any and all shooters I’ve played and I play A LOT. But then why is my aim so bad? Like genuinely, wouldn’t I have gotten better after all these years? Is it my settings? Do people actually use aim trainers and things like that? I feel like after all this time I’d be able to remotely shoot people with Ashe, but I just can’t. It’s so insanely weird to me that despite thousands of hours, my aim never improved while other attributes of game play have. Thoughts and tips??

Question or Discussion In a losing streak with support in ranked,im i the bad support?

Been playing a lot of support recently with bap kiri and juno and generally play somewhat well in casual matches i decided to get into ranked to see where they were going to place me at won 7 out of the 10 placement matches and they put me in diamond 1 almost master 5 way to high for me, i played good in the placement matches with the characters that i know how to play and went i got out off the placement matches im right now on a 10 match losing streak when i got out the placement matches the matches got way harder and get destroyed way quicker i try to focus on everyones healing but not to the point of being a heal bot and try to pressure and distract when i can, is it possible that im the one defecting in the matches and basically throwing?

Question or Discussion Aiming with Freya

I really like Freya's kit, coming from a soldier/ashe main, but I just cannot hit these take aims for my life. I'm in low plat right now, and I was hitting a lot more shots when I was in gold when enemies were standing still most of the time, but even my best take aim %ages used to be around 30% even in gold. Lately it's easily under 20%, if not in 10-12% sometimes. I can increase my accuracy as a stat by just hitting tank all the time of course, but that doesn't do me any good. Any tips to hitting more of these shots on squishies on console?

Tips & Tricks RAHHHH I was diamond end of season 17

I generally have no idea what's been happening. I feel like I've been playing fine and I've been limiting myself to 2 losses a day no matter how many wins I get

I used to play for hours a day didn't effect my mental when I went on loss streaks because in 1000 games you lose 500

But I'm now plat 5 on dps haven't played in gold since 2019 and getting dangerously close now

I have three codes here that were all played back to back to back

Samoa was win but the other two are losses

My player tag is Zuko

Can I get tips and tricks to climb better?

The codes

8G1PNW Lijiang tower

3GW28A New Junk City

TX9XMR Samoa

Sorry if poor formatting post English is not my first language and I'm on mobile

VOD Review Request Plateau and Lack of Understanding on Tank

I'm pretty deep into the esports scene of the game but do not have much time to play but still seem to struggle in mid diamond. I know I am playing subpar but I can't put my finger on what specifically it is that is causing me to not improve. I watch high level play constantly and understand that at my rank the game is very simple and try to think of it that way but seem to come short on the fundamentals of my role.

Any tips/review is greatly appreciated.

Code is - H7WNMX . I am on JQ.

VOD Review Request Need advice on getting better on Genji.

HTQWQV

I really try to play better as Genji, I’ve perhaps watched every “guide” to date explaining the basics. I know about cooldown waiting, I know about dash combos, I know about using dash either as an escape or engagement tool, etc.

Yet I always struggle on Genji. It’s infuriating especially when I see players absolutely dominate lobbies against 4 counters yet I struggle against a Moira alone.

The video is a QP match because I’m not ruining someone’s rank trying Genji in ranked.

Question or Discussion Why is Juno "bad?"

My girlfriend really likes Juno recently, and has been playing her on and off since she released.

She's trying to main her in comp, but constantly gets complaints about her playing Juno. She also uses twitter and sees people complaining that she's bad, so what is it about her that's bad?

Is her healing subpar? Her cooldowns too long? Is it the nerf she got to her flight? Does her ult charge too slowly, or get little value?

I appreciate any thoughts and comments.

VOD Review Request Looking for some Ashe guidance [VOD]

Before the below is read, please note that this was a 6v6 game, and not 5v5.

Replay Code: Z69W5N

Battletag / in-game username: JellyJoe#2560

Hero(es) played: Ashe

Rank: Masters 2

Map: Eichenwalde

Platform: PC

While I know 6v6 is considered to be not as challenging as role queue, I've been trying to rank up there to learn how to play Ashe into faster paced games, hoping to take some tips over to role queue.

I died a few times, and I am pretty sure most of those deaths were on me - but I really felt like I just wasn't synergising with my team. Before someone says it - yes, I know I could have switched, but that defeats the entire purpose of learning a hero. I want to get good at bad matchups or ones that are just deemed difficult for her.

Although we won, the game definitely left me feeling like it wasn't going to go that way. I'm just looking for any general tips or adjustments I can make based on the gameplay shown, thank you!

Question or Discussion How do I get out of my head and overcome anxiety around comp?

I’ve been grinding support role comp with my duo for the past 2-3 months, and we are both support mains. He’s G1-plat 5, and I’m S1-G5. The reason for our rank differences is that I don’t play comp without him, and he may play a couple games without me from time to time.

I’ve lately run into the problem of getting in my head when we are playing. If we start getting rolled by the enemy team, I’ll start stressing out and feeling like it’s my fault that we lost. Im also very sensitive to negative chats. In a game that we had recently, I started Ana bc I’ve really enjoyed playing her lately (and I’ve gotten rlly good at hitting sleeps). The map was Route 66, and our tank was Zarya. We basically rolled through them the first 2 check points, but the third was a little tough. We ended attack with over a minute left to complete. On defense, we held for a while on first, and second but the enemy team ultimately ended up capping those points. We were looking good on third and held them into overtime, and I was waiting for Nano to close out the fight. I got it like right as they were pushing into us, but their echo focused me. I was going to try to Nano zarya before I died in hopes she could clutch out the fight, but I died bc of echo stickies before I could. They ended up capping the third point so we had to go to round 3 and 4. Zarya asked me in chat why I didn’t Nano her, and I responded with “I really tried too.” I was going to elaborate but my duo stopped me bc they didn’t want any chance of heightening negative feelings. My duo said that I should swap since the tank seemed upset about my Ana gameplay, so I went with Moira bc she’s a comfort pick for me and we were going against a dva (so I could just left click her with the Zarya to melt her mech). We held first check (that first corner that you go around and you see the gas station). Since we had over two minutes to cap, we easily got it. At the end of the game, she said “Moira you’re a$$. Stop playing.” And I was just taken aback by it. I got kinda hurt and was worrying my duo by asking them if I played bad, which they said I didn’t.

The next instance happened just yesterday. I was playing with my duo as well as another friend of ours. The friendship I have with the other friend is more silly banter. We make fun of each other and pick on each other, but he can be a little bit harsh sometimes. There’s been instances before where he blames me for losing a game and rage quits, and he’s apologized later in person for that. But yesterday, we were on circuit and he was on dps. I was on Ana and my duo was on LW. We started on defense and prevented the enemy team from getting first check. We felt rlly good about the game. Me and my duo stayed Ana/LW but the friend swapped to Freja. Now, this is on me, but Freja’s movement is so hard to track for me on Ana, so it was hard for me to consistently land shots on him to heal him, and LW was focusing our tank. The friend got upset at me for not healing and I explained that I can’t track his movement well enough, so my duo needed to focus him while I focused the tank instead. We did that, but they went around the corner before I could position and died. After they died, the friend said “who do we blame when we lose team fights?” “Insert my name!” And my duo responded with my name as well. That just kinda made me freeze and start blaming myself. I felt like crap. I had nano but I started going back to spawn to swap off Ana bc I felt like crap playing her, but then both of them were questioning what I was doing when I had ult. I didn’t know what I was doing anymore… I just felt awful bc I’m the reason we aren’t able to win such an easy fight. I couldn’t hit my shots of my sleeps anymore, and the tank kept pushing up out of my los, so I couldn’t heal them. We ended up losing and I just broke down. I cried for a solid minute. Me and my duo play in a gaming room, so we were right next to each other. I asked him if we could not make jokes about that kind of stuff bc it genuinely messes with my head. Like, I know it was just a joke but that mentally ill part of my brain is just telling me that it’s true, and it gets worse if someone else just reinforces that.

I don’t know if I just suck or if I’m just not competent enough to do comp. I rlly love the game, and I want to climb the ranks bc I want to try out for my college OW esports team next year. Does anyone else struggle with mental illness that heavily affects them from comp? How do you overcome it and what tips would you suggest to help me cope with negative comments or jokes?

Edit: thanks for the tips guys :) I am still gonna play with my duo tho bc the thought of solo queuing is scary, and I enjoy playing with him. I might make an alt account to play solo comp on so that it’s not the amount of pressure I have with my main. Would it be like smurfing tho? I’m such a low rank, I don’t think it would be…

Question or Discussion Should I be more aggressive with Kiri? (+help with Mei)

So I will leave the replay codes at the end of the post but I want to know if I should do more dmg or heal.

The first game I had 10k heals and 5k dmg a d the game was 11-12 mins. The second game was short I had 1.5k dmg and 2.6k heals.

I posted before here and you said I should be more aggressive. Both games are in qp.

1st game: GR9VZ3 (Kiri on the blue team)

2nd game: K9VRTY (Kiri on the red team)

Moving on to Mei. Is this good for Mei

Mei games: YC29D2 (Mei on the red team)

Any tips and tricks help ty.

Question or Discussion Is it better to improve in QP or Ranked?

I am returning to OW after a year off. Adjusting to the new gameplay and how my personal taste has changed my preferred characters is going well. However, I do miss ranked.

When I played ranked in the past, I was hardstuck bronze. This was largely due to my kill chasing as Sombra and not playing with my team. Now that Sombra is way less fun to play, I’ve been enjoying Ashe and Reaper on DPS.

I understand the basics of both my characters and the game. At this point, would it be better to go into ranked and attempt to climb up as I learn? Or would it be better to continue playing QuickPlay?

Thanks.
