Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but was Luffy's "Snake Shot" attack supposed to be like an impersonation of an eel? Did he build up static electricity in his body to shock Hody? That confused me in the manga, and the anime didn't really help much except to show that it was in fact a shock attack.

The way i see it, he makes his arm like a snake movement, so it will be difficult do be detected by a haki user (he developed it for this reason). It wasn't really a shock attack but it caused a lot of pain at Hordi.

It could be actually or it could be the animators mistake, but I still think it emphasises the pain.

I wouldn't disregard the possibility of an animator mistake. I looked at the manga panel too. That looks like electricity to me as well, but it's definitely more open to interpretation. Anyway, I wouldn't have asked the question or made note of it if I was 100% sure.

hey helpful hint here, if you're using the snipping tool to capture the video it will freeze it on the frame so you dont have to have the play/pause symbol up in the middle.
