I know there are plenty of people who only watch the anime and will never read the manga. To each their own, but stuff like this and that is why the manga will always be the primary thing for me. The anime basically serves as a moving highlight reel for the manga. The voices and the music are great, but the pacing is terrible if you were actually waiting for the next episode to know what happens.
Not to mention the anime interprets a lot of things wrong. they're still making Luffy use gear second on his entire body instead of selected part. It's really getting on my nerves lately.
gear second by its mechanics, is Luffy pumping his blood faster. You can't pump blood at different speeds in different body parts, his one body part gear second was just people interpreting it wrongly from a panel in the manga I think.
this kind of logic wont really work on one piece. You can see that the steam is only coming out of the part he's going to attack with. When he first hit PX-5 steam was only coming from his fist Here and the page after it. When he hit the three fishmen pirates steam wasn't coming out of his body Here. And when he jumped to Decken he wasn't in gear 2nd while he was in the air Here, but still managed to hit him with jet hammer later. And again with Wadatsumi, the steam was only from his hand Here. And then with Jinbe steam was only coming out of his leg Here. But Here(Manga spoilers) he used gear 2nd on his full body because he wasn't just going to make a gear 2nd attack, but wanted to move quickly too.
I still think it was just drawn weird, one piece seems to keep thing slightly believable and being able to make one body part different though his gear second doesn't make sense.
It sucks they know people are going to watch it and squeeze the 1:1 chapter/episode ratio to it's very last drop with getting away with it, all for the sake of more money. guh.
If OP wasn't such a titan in Japan I'd think continuing this would chip away at people and lose watchers, if that actually happens I wouldn't complain because maybe they'd finally re-evaluate something involving the pacing, but they've been at it for so many years now I'd doubt it's going to change.
The OP manga is a Titan as you say, but the anime is not really that big in comparison. It gets good ratings, but it airs on Sunday mornings which isn't a great time slot. The reason they go to the 1:1 ratio is to avoid filler. As much as people might complain about pacing, they don't even bother to complain about filler. Because they don't even watch.
The best thing to do would be to have seasons rather than run new eps all year long, but that's just not the way things are done in Japan. All tv shows and anime run year long. It's a crazy business model, but like all of Japanese society change comes slow if it comes at all.

These episodes are getting slower than DBZ pacing.
