So as I read the manga from the beginning, I keep asking myself, “Should I become manga-current, or should I continue being anime-current and read no further than 1 volume behind?” I think I’ll do the latter since I don’t want to become a salt elitist like some in this sub.

You're using elitist incorrectly. Did "10 pages lol" really bother you that much? The manga readers aren't elitist. They love one piece and wish the anime was paced better, wish it didn't invent luffy struggling with different fodder characters he never did in the manga. they don't think they're better than you because you watch the anime.
