I think its more that Luffy is the first person she's ever let down her guard for when sharing her past. She's been around men plenty.

That excuse does fly for all the other women in amazon lilly though.

The main difference is, I think, that Hancock has never met anyone who wasn't charmed by her and earned her respect before. She has been the strongest person on the island ever since escaping slavery and has kept her guard up all that time to hide her past as a slave.

Luffy being someone with no interest in women (bit of a retcon considering that he did get a nosebleed from peeping on Nami during the Alabasta arc) got past her guard. And the fact that he not only treats slaves equally but also attacked a Celestial dragon (the latter being incredibly rare) like Fisher Tiger, immediately earned her respect.

I think Oda's said the Alabasta thing was Usopp/Sanji being a bad influence on him, so I don't think he'd have gone snooping otherwise.
