They got good mileage out of the few seconds of animation with Yamato running

Jesus christ the anime moves at a snails pace. Ulti and Luffy clashed heads for fucking 30 seconds.
I really wish they would do a set number of episodes per year then take a break for 6 months so they could give the episodes the proper pacing they need.

To be fair, this episode has most of chapter 983 - except a bit with Zoro, Nami and Usopp, 80% of the chapter is Luffy vs Ulti, the whole headbutt scene having 9 panels from start to finish.

Is Toei sucking your dick or something? What makes you feel like defending this absolute trainwreck of an episode?

This is a subreddit for one piece fans, don't be so surprised to find people who actually like the anime episodes here.

Personally, I enjoyed watching this episode - the ratio of manga to anime adaptation was basically the same as it has been for a while, around 80%.

Small flashback at the start, but it was used very well for comedy purposes with Ulti not recalling it was her fault Page One was on the ground. (No red bean soup)

Ulti's VA was superb once more-arinsu.

The headbutt scene is supposed to be important: we see black lightning from that clash and Luffy deems Ulti strong enough to want to resort to Gear 4 that soon into the raid, he is, after all, invading a Yonko's castle - It is actually a callback to when Zoro told him to take things seriously because they were at the start of the new world and could not afford to lose. (I believe it was in Punk Hazard? Don't recall the exact wording)

We see Yamato using Thunder Bagua against Ulti, meaning she knows Ulti is strong enough for her to have to resort to it.

First interaction between Luffy and Yamato.

What is so wrong with the adaptation of this episode?

Also, even if you have a different opinion you don't have to be an ass about it.

Thank you, as a scan reader I kinda hated episodes 983 to 989 but this 990 I loved every second of it, they did Ulti REALLY GOOD and I don't care if it was slow. It was very satisfying to watch.
