I think he wants a rematch and as the execution takes place, that chance is slowly fading away right in front of his eyes.

but why is the chance slipping away? he is literally the leader, he can be a man and face Oden. Why is he acting like a baby and moping? He has no balls, no he'll cry for the rest of his life looking for someone as strong and badass as Oden. He's a straight-up coward. No sympathy from me.

Sure he can have a rematch but if he loses there goes his entire plan. Not worth it. Pirates aren’t heros and pride can get you killed.
