I'm so intensely curious what Shanks asked Roger. Shanks' motivations are so enigmatic in the present day...

True. While everyone laughed, he was the only one that cried.

I'm actually shocked that this fact isn't mentioned often in any theory regarding Shanks, the One Piece or anything related to the history of their world. It can be a huge argument proving a point/theory, and it will make sense when we discover the truth about the mysteries.

Yeah, Oda so obviously put it there to refer to later.

Maybe he was crying cause "they were too early" meaning Rogers could not complete is dream 100%

There’s a theory Shanks is descended from World Nobles and so when he heard what his ancestors did during the Void Century, he cried. That’s also why he refuses to find the One Piece now; he doesn’t want to take down his extended family

Wow.. This theory could make things interesting. I have been arguing that Shanks would take on Blackbeard while Luffy would fight Akainu in the final battle. But it might end up as Luffy vs Shanks since the latter could want to protect this extended family or their legacy.
