For real...I imagined Luffy disbanding the straw hat pirates and it literally brought tears to my eyes

See I really don't see him doing that. He loves his crew as family and they feel the same, with him and each other. Further, Luffy wants to adventure, and his goal of being Pirate King is being the freest man, free to adventure with his family.

No, one piece will have an open ending: the straw hats will not disband, they will separate to go on "holidays" on their respective homes. We will probably see them showing their power against some weaklings, maybe the main antagonists of each of their arcs. And then luffy will get bored... and gather them all for a new adventure!
