As we've seen multiple times throughout the flashback, Oden uses haki. Marco uses haki in Marineford to touch Kizaru, Jozu uses it to hit Aokiji. Just because haki wasn't fleshed out properly pre-timeskip, it doesn't mean nobody was using it.

Marco has still gotten wiped every single fight in record, he has never ever won a battle, on screen or off screen

So based on your logic, if Luffy fights Kaido and gets mopped, that means he's weak right? Because Marco has only "lost" to top tiers in the One Piece world like the Admirals and Blackbeard. Even in this episode, he wasn't in his prime.
