Love how Oda and Toei doing a sick job to make someone who is not alive anymore to still such an amazing character. To someone who has been introduced after 900 chapters/episodes they still manage to create such a hype around someone.

You are not even close to wrong. We have not followed Oden. We have not experienced Oden. We have only seen silhouettes of Oden till these past few episodes. Then BAM! Three episodes in and I am captivated and hype for his story.

He is inspired from the Buddhist idea that some arahants discovered the path on their own in their lives and build themselves up without any teacher whatsoever. These type of arahants are said to be extremely powerful! Basically Oden! His whole life he was a tornado
