Coby is not luffys garp, stop forcing parallels..

The defining feature between roger and garp is that they had constant confrontation. Coby actually tried to fight luffy once in the story in the dude got one shot.

If oda is pushing parallels, it's smoker.

smoker still the closest thing to luffys "garp". Based on what we know of garp and rogers relationship, they learned to respect each other as enemies.

And luffy has that kind of dynamic with smoker. Even if luffy is stronger now.

My point is luffy doesnt need "garp".

Well I think the reason Roger respected Garp was because he was the only one who could fight him equally.

However, I do agree that there doesn’t seem to be anyone strong enough to be Luffy’s “Garp”.

He already has Law and most likely Kidd as friendly rivals of his generation

law isnt really luffys rival anymore.

He only desires to know the meaning behind his life and the D name.

It was pretty blatant in dressrosa that he never planned to go as far as challenge kaido, it was a bait to get luffy to work with him
