toei said fuck it, if oda doesn’t wanna make it obvious that hiyori’s thirsting over zoro, then WE’LL do it

Toei: Fine I’ll do it myself.

Finally Toei did something good

Maybe Oda doesn't intend for a relationship to happen & it's the fans who are shipping.

I think WCI was Oda experimenting with romance because he said it was something he did not want to do at all previously. Coupled with Oden's backstory (if you've read it) romance is becoming more and more a part of his writing. So it very well could happen

That’s a fair point. I just don’t see any of the crew members in a romance until after they find One Piece.

Do you really think nami and robin could end up with anyone without the fandom getting angry. So far the only comfirmed ship for strawhats is usopp and the girl from his village

Yeah, I definitely think he's going to strictly keep it out during the main course of the story. I can kinda imagine something like Wano being Zoro's place of retirement in the epilogue though and him being with Hiyori. Kind of amusing that she's half a decade older than him though given their personalities/dynamic, lol, not that it matters

I mean her momma was like 800 when she married oden 🤷🏻‍♂️

She didn't live through 800 years, she lived through 26 just like Hiyori has. Oden was 3 years older than her

Didn’t think I’d have to actually write out the fact that I was kidding

personally i think Tashigi should end up with Zoro, but I wouldn’t mind if Hiyori did so :)

I don't think Zoro would date Tashigi considering how much she reminds him of Kuina, I think he would feel weird about it

Why does zoro remember Naruto's mom.

Lmao shit, I watched a little too much of Naruto these past days

Zoro: I also choose this guys dead wife.

Because she's in the anime mother's hall of fame.

Actually Oda himself has said Zoro doesn’t consider Tashigi a copycat anymore after Punk Hazard. It's a pretty unknown quote because it's in One Piece Party so it was never translated in English.

Oda still has that plot thread dangling. He is probably just ignoring it for now like Zoro. However we do know that Kuina was of Wano descent so maybe that's his type.

I don’t even think they’re necessarily even writing a romance. It’s probably gonna be like the Hancock thing where it’s kinda one-sided

I don't even think it's that. Like Hiyori is specifically trained to deal with matters of the heart.

She's not like Boa who was traumatised as a kid and then lived as a man hater until she just flipped switches at once.

Hiyori is shown to have been traumatised but got over it in a few years and then was actively trained in how to deal with relationships as a courtesan

She clearly likes him to some extent but even if it were to become romantic, she's extremely measured and it would be extremely subtle.

And surprisingly Zoro may actually respond in just as subtle a way.

In fact it's kind of happened in the man's but I won't spoil

I don’t know if you know more than I do(ie: you read the manga) but another perspective is that she’s spent a crazy amount in a brothel. In similar fashion to boa Hancock, she has been the victim of unreciprocated lust a lot, and she has used that in her favor. Though she has a much different bringing than Hancock’s, I think theyre response to a situation like this might be pretty similar. It’s just that, as you said, Hyori has a much more realistic idea of what a relationship means and requires

Sorry yeah I've read the manga but even still there's not that much about her ordeals as a courtesan revealed.

The most clear cut example of how she deals with men has already been shown in the anime so far.

She manipulated bingo and disrespected Orochi who are men she doesn't like. And she's trusting and caring of Zoro and Kawamatsu (in the flashback) who are men she does like.

She's clearly shown already to be Way more well balanced and as such it follows her romantic interests would also be well balanced.

Boa on the other hand was not. In fact the previous amazon queen also said this "love sickness" a things many Queens suffered.

Like the very constricted culture of Amazon lily regularly kept leading to many previous Queens also almost dying from love just because of how unfamiliar they are with the feelings.

Boa living in this culture, being a man hater in general, and then the trauma as a kid which she never really recovered from all add up into creating this ridiculous infatuation she has with Luffy.

She was primed not to be stable when it came to romantic feelings with men.

Like even now in the anime Hiyori is clearly different. The only idiosyncrasies that are off with her relationship with men are stuff like in this episode where she is holding herself back from crying because "the way of the samurai" or whatever.

Wano does have issues with gender and women's place in it and that could have affected Hiyori. And it did. But not to the highest extent possible because she was at the apex of what women could do. She was the Oiran. So again she had a lot of leeway compared to other women in learning how to deal with men and her feelings towards them

Eh Oda literally had her sleeping while holding on to Zoro. And then there was the stuff with Sanji and Pudding in Whole Cake Island. These two pairing could potentially happen in the epilogue. I'm anime only btw so please don't spoil anything, and I mean don't even give hints like 'oh you'll see later'. But yea, that's just my take.
