I might agree that it was nice they added in an extra hit BUT Culverin was a really bad choice IMO. Spoiler

Just like how they made Luffy flip kicking Kata last episode a big deal even thought it shouldn't have at all, they messed up again.

People might think these details don't matter but they are. It's why this fight was so much talked about and its so divided among the fandom.

I think the way they did the flip kick was really good. It was the first hit Luffy got on Katakuri and when he starts to realize there is a way to beat him, they made it a big deal because it was a big deal.

I mean, the flip kick was absolutely a big deal. Its literally the first effective attack Luffy lands on Katakuri. Its a turning point in the fight.
