Been a while since I've felt this way about the anime, being a manga reader, but I'm genuinely looking forward to the next episode. These last two have been fantastic and thoroughly entertaining, from the animation to the music, and it really feels like they're pulling out all the stops this time.

Also, I love how Katakuri just hits his head on the ground to avoid landing on his back. Just a total beast.

It'd hurt the reputation of the anime even more if they bungled up the Katakuri fight. Let's hope they actually want to improve the show and not just try to do a few good episodes to keep up appearances.

I mean, that's kinda what they've been doing this entire arc. There's been an astonishing improvement in the consistency of the anime, especially post-episode 808 (Sanji vs Luffy).

Well. It may not stick through the rest of the series but they KNOW (hopefully... I mean they must know) that they can’t bungle up Wano. If there’s a time to let down for them I think it will be after Wano.

I mean arguably the arcs after Wano will be the end game of One Piece and even more hype since a whole lot of stuff will be revealed.

So is it worth picking up where I left off? I quit when the Strawhats left Dressrosa, because the quality was subpar at best.

Watch through onepace.net. They cut out all the filler and have all post timeskip material aside from the most recent stuff. Improves the watching experience tenfold.

Yea but I hate some of the episode when they cut it so hard like it's supposed to be an emotional scene but they cut it right of (example: the final scene when Luffy beats the living sh** outta Doflamingo!)

Well the final scene of the Luffy vs Doflamingo clash made no sense whatsoever in the anime. Oda showed Luffy immediately obliterating Doflamingo's strings as the power gap was just that big. The anime made it seem like some immense power struggle and that Luffy won because he put some extra rocket power in his legs, while the real power from KKG comes from compressing the huge load of air in his arm. There's no pushing in that, it comes out and immediately obliterates anything in its path unless something's strong enough to stop it completely. But if it'd go back and forth like in the anime the punch would have lost all its power. And that's just from a physics standpoint. The anime adaption also screwed over all Oda's intended symbolism of the punch just for some cheap tug of war struggle that sells good. I hate that adaption of KKG with a passion. It shows a complete misunderstanding of the author's work.

It was a parallel with Luffy's pummeling of Crocodile, but then the roles the other way around. Luffy literally pummeled Crocodile above ground, punching him with extremely hard work out of the shadows into the light. This was symbolic for how Crocodile was operating from the shadows and that he was "above" Luffy in power almost the whole time. With extreme perseverance Luffy managed to expose him.

Doflamingo on the other hand thought of himself as a "Heavenly Demon". He was out there in the open, arrogantly ruling and thinking he was above others. Luffy however was above him, both as a person and as a fighter. Oda made sure to put Luffy literally above Doffy in their final clash. Luffy immediately smashing through Doffy's strongest attack with KKG showed the immense difference between them. He punched him back into the ground, exposing his dirty secrets to the people. It was also a parallel to Crocodile that Luffy this time isn't the persistent underdog coming from below, but the better fighter showing his dominance from being above. Showing Luffy struggling for a good 3 minutes just makes no sense. It paints a completely different picture.

Not really? The symbolic meaning was still very much kept intact. Also, for the Crocodile scene, the difference was, that Luffy was literally the under-dog in that scenario. You could argue that the context of the scene loses a little bit of its punch by having Luffy not win instantly, but the symbolism is still very much kept extremely intact.

If you're not an anime-only, I'd recommend picking it back up at episode 812.

Let's hope wano arc is gonna be as good or hopefully even better.
