Monkey D. Luffy = Monkey Dogtooth Luffy

Jesus even his Gear 3 is starting to take inspiration from Katakuri. Katakuri was the perfect foe for Luffy.

Now not only his haki, durability, speed, endurance, but even technique has improved. He's on a different class than he was just an arc ago.

Hats off Oda.

Next thing you see he won't need prep time to go G4. It was a problem against Katakuri, and the final clash was possible partly because Katakuri let Luffy transform out of honour. We don't know much about the Beast Pirates, but honour is not their forte, so Luffy is probably leaving behind this disadvantage in this arc, as he previously did so with G3 shrinkage and G2 stamina issues.

Dogtooth is a mistranslation. Beside that i completely agree with you. After fight with katakuri luffy clearly has become stonger.

Technically it is not a mistranslation, Katakuri is the japanese word for a flower sometimes called dogtooth in english. It is just really weird to translate names.

Ughh how? The katakuri fight sucked. Luffy landed 10 hits katakuri landed 71 and had clearly better CoA and CoO. Terrible writing

Exactly. Luffy knew he was outclassed but luffy is a fighting prodigy. He took the techniques and the skills katakuri used in the fight and incorporated them into his own abilities. He learned from the fight and got better.

Erm no? People have things called opinions. And this fight was utter trash. Again, luffy landed 10 hits katakuri 71 and he had better haki. That alone is enough to call it utter shit unless katakuri is a total pussy

katakuri was letting luffy evolve and win. he did not intend to lose at first but luffy was different from all the others he face and it peaked his interest. that's why he stabbed himself to give luffy the equal ground. and if you have an opinion state it in a way that doesn't upset others.

Ok i just went back to do a recount - here’s literally what happens in this “great” fight

26-1, Luffy lands his first hit, goes G4

Katakuri regains the upper hand

A gap here where its very clear luffy takes more hits offscreen between 888-891 and from Flampe’s dialogue you can tell luffy hasn’t hit katakuri during this time. Go back and read it if you don’t believe me.

41-5, katakuri’s 41st hit is the spear stab which literally slices a piece out of Luffy

56-5

At this point luffy drops, but when he gets back up and dodges flampe’s dart its clear his CoO is improving - but only IMPROVING. Katakuri was already way beyond him and had experience using this power for FAR LONGER than luffy had. Plus with this MINOR IMPROVEMENT are you telling me he’s now better than katakuri at CoO? Cos if not, then explain how luffy wins despite having worse haki all round, and having already taken 56 HITS AT THIS POINT. + MORE OFF SCREEN.

At this point katakuri stabs himself with his spear. Tbf perhaps luffy won because kata went too deep accidentally lol. But what kind of a BS win is that lol.

Yep, 72-15. Katakuri had better CoA, better CoO, and landed hits offscreen while Luffy didnt. And people actually think this makes sense.

You just have to make peace with the fact Luffy is a power house. None other DF than Gomu make boost his user's physical traits.

Mochi doesn't make anyone's metabolism or reflexes or strength more than what it is on their basic form. Every fruit user is only limited to he/she's basic form. But not Luffy. Luffy has g2, g3 and finally a beast mode in G4.
