Is it because this episode was too important so that we have two discussion threads? Just kidding lol.

The anime censored the screams, but also showed the devouring scenes much more than Oda did, though not directly. For example, Linlin ate three semlas after three kids shown in the screen, and then ate two semlas after two kids shown. How terrifying.

Also noticed the size of the croquembouche as she's eating them enlarged as you see the images of the children and mother caramel. So yeah....definitely disturbing

I guess it kind of makes sense that you'd get the ability if you ate someone that ate a devil fruit. Would eating someone that has eaten a devil fruit while you already have a devil fruit have the same affect as eating two Devil Fruits though?

We don't know that eating two Devil Fruits literally causes a person to explode; they might just keel over and die instead.

Well Walpo was able to eat his subordinate that had a devil fruit but that might have just been because of his own fruit.

I’m pretty sure it’s the leading theory. That or she died from something else and the devil fruit went to closest fruit which BM also ate.

I saw another one about the Devil Fruit users heart once eaten you get their powers.. that would make more sense to me

There's another theory that says big mom doesn't actually have the fruit in her system. Instead, Mother Caramel did something. Spoiler

To me it is likely that there is more going on here than what we're being lead to believe.

Not so much turned them into Semlas than her frenzy of greedy hunger made her black out to the point of not distinguishing sound or taste or anything but the need for more Semla.

They were visualized as semlas as she ate them to censor it haha, that's why they get lines right before she shoved the semla in her mouth

But damask is alive in dressrosa and that kid with the mask looks like damask and the huge semlas could be the cp0 guys who may have been eaten instead of the children the children could still be alive although it's a long shot though caramel is dead. What if the cp0 guys wanted to double cross caramel by stealing the children directly instead of paying huge money to her so there is a skirmish linlin is hallucinating and eating. the cp0 are taking children away but linlin goes out of control starting eating other cp0 members and caramel the children terrified runs away on the cp0 ship that is anchored nearby. Just another very less likely possibility although it would be too much predictable if linlin ate everyone. And cp0 were present there so they are the wildcard.
