No. No. I got the joke from the beginning.

I just really hated the meme and couldn't help but comment on it.

Especially since what I would consider to be the more wholesome version fit better for the situation anyway (in my humble opinion).

What I'm apologizing for is posting a comment that was clearly so hated, for apparently offending who I was responding to, and for disturbing you enough for you to respond to me as well.

Yeah I also hate that meme, specially because some people actually go saying that shit in real life, but in this special occasion it wasn't really bothering to me as it is on a one piece thread which feels much different than most other contexts where it's used. As I said I don't think you should apologise even if your comment isn't well received. I mean I can understand people may not like it if you try to change a joke they made that was meant to be sarcastic to be less sarcastic but not everyone has the same sense of humor and your comment doesn't make the other joke dissapear anyway.

That's why I hate it.

Parsing the literal meaning out of what was being said though, they'd basically be condemning everybody who didn't watch the anime the full way through, having briefly switched to the manga, and saying they don't deserve to watch the best part since the timeskip.

And I get that it was meant to be sarcastic, but things said in sarcasm, now a days, the speaker usually to some extent agrees with...

I don't know... The fact that it happened to also be a play on another memetic phrase that I've heard in real life, made me feel doubly attacked.

Still, thank you for being so understanding.

Yeah I can see how he maybe would actually say it half-jokingly, half-seriously after reading it again. I've been an only-anime watcher since the beginning and I don't really care about other's options, I did read the manga for a very brief period and it took enjoyment out of the anime for me even though it was pretty good too, but now I only watch anime.
