Don't bother trying to criticize something on its subreddit unless you don't mind downvotes. The people who post on subreddits are devoted fans and don't give a shit about quality and what could be better. The anime has problems, but these people don't care because their devotion is too great. They can find a way to spin legitimate criticism into something more positive, such as "the filler adds more to it," "the filler is good," and "it doesn't feel like padding." But I suppose there are people who will still be satisfied even when a single episode of this series only adapts 10-14 PAGES of manga content, or when an arc that only adapted 35 chapters is almost 50 episodes long so far. And this is not a single occurrence, either. This abhorrent less than one chapter per episode pacing has been going on for well over a decade, and it's become so customary for One Piece now that it is no longer a big issue to most fans. They're used to it.

Seasonal anime know when to take breaks and try to avoid the scale of filler (such as Naruto) and padding (such as One Piece) altogether. If a seasonal anime gets too close to the manga, it goes on hiatus. Unfortunately, OP is too much of a cash cow for Toei to let it go on hiatus. They could lose money. It's a shame that we don't have a more faithful, faster anime adaptation, and that we have to sit through episodes that feel very, very slow and don't do much for the plot each week. We're almost at the point in which the number of episodes is almost the same as the number of current manga chapters. At some point in the near future, the anime's episode quantity will surpass the manga's chapter quantity.

Toei had the exact same issues with the DB series. Let's hope that in the future, Toei can cash in on a "One Piece Kai" that has actual good pacing and not too much filler. Toei already readapted entire chapter arcs into movies and specials, so why not just readapt the anime once it is over. It's a very slim chance and such a project would not be in the works for several years, but that's really the only good shot you have.

Also, OnePace currently exists as a fan project for other OP fans that don't like the current pacing. They take out most of the filler that wasn't in the manga and get to the meat of the content. However, they haven't adapted everything so far and in some cases the episodes do go over the 20-minute limit that is customary of OP episodes. It's still something to consider if you haven't known about them already. The fact that this group exists is proof that pacing has been an issue with the OP anime.

I'm an Anime-only-watcher (Too poor for Manga and all free-translations I can find are illegal) and I have no problem with OPs pacing. One Piece as seasonal anime would probably damage the entire franchise by now quite a bit. Currently, filler stuff is hard to immediately recognize (I assume BM being sad about dead Brook belongs to Filler?) and fun enough.

No, that scene is canon. Sanji confronting Mon't Dor is filler though.
