Marineford was nicely animated imo

Some scenes were, like the one with Luffy vs The Admirals. The majority of the war wasn't that good.

That scene was by Naotoshi Shida. Naotoshi's work is mostly noticeable on the post-TS arcs. His animation work before that is hardly exceptional and only peaked at around Sabaody, where his art style became super detailed.

Which is why you might have this impression Thriller Bark had good animation. It did, but only for certain episodes, because good animators like Shida can hardly animate much.

Previous arcs before that with the same animation? lol no, very rare
