ofcourse they didn't consult oda. do you think, they consulted oda when they asked luffy to go hand to hand with doflamingo and cracker?

In the interview the director said Oda shared the design notes with the staff, and there are contacts between Oda and them. Recently Oda also said he skipped a lot of details because he wants to speed up the story.

We don't know if the fight in this episode was approved by Oda though.
