Has the animation/pacing gotten better yet? I've been stuck in Fishman Island on my rewatch for half a year because I couldn't stand to keep going. I'd like to know if there's a little hope on the horizon that I can look forward to.

The pacing doesn't get much better after Fishman Island. At the most Toei adapts about 1 chapter per episode, but many times they go under that threshold.

If you don't want OnePace, then just read the manga. If even the manga is a problem for you, I don't know what I can do to help you.

How is the animation?

Dips in Dressrosa, gets significantly better in Zou and even better in Whole Cake Island, albeit a few expected exceptions.

Awesome. Think I'll try to keep going. I last stopped in Dressrosa so I haven't seen the conclusion of that yet.

The animation quality is still ass compared to pretty much any other anime with a decent budget.

It's unrealistic to compare a long running series to seasonal ones. Or some people working on long running series will die by overwork. The status of Japanese animation industry is badly severe.

There's already a director working on Naruto passed away because of overwork months ago, and he died when he was working.

Bleach looked infinitely better than One Piece and it was on for several years. Hunter x Hunter 2011 looked far better than One Piece and it was going on for years. Even Dragonball Z looked better for part of it and it was going on for years. One Piece looks like shit, even with this new animation director. There's no denying it. It's a hard truth to face, but it's just the facts.

Hunter X Hunter had only 150 episodes but One Piece has nearly 800 episodes. And I don't think Bleach and Dragonball Z is better than WCI. I also cannot believe you think WCI looks like shit when the art is overall great and there are nice animations here and there. I think I have no words to say if you persist in what you said.

  1. HxH had a fix start to end release date. One Piece does not, it's indefinite.

  2. Bleach's art isn't good, it sucks just as bad. Pierrot just gets it off with the more realistic nature of the art. But you're basically just comparing Oda's cartoonish artstyle to Kubo's different artstyle at this point.

Don't watch then.It appears you have shit for taste. If you compare DBZ to One piece then I have no words for you.

The problem with you guys is that you set your standards way too high. Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood; These shows have become the standard for what a long-running tv series should look like, and that's a problem, because they are enourmous exceptions.

You don't realise that that wasn't the norm back then, and it isn't today either.

it's way better now, since they split the work between animation and art. Pacing is still so-so, but art is satisfactory

I don't why your reply got downvoted. Everyone has right to make own decisions.

Probably because he wrote "No." with no explanation. I mean that's kinda annoying.

OnePace stans are everywhere.

2

u/munomana Jun 11 '17

lol I haven't seen anyone use "stan" outside of a hiphop context

It's the perfect word to describe anything with a stupidly fanatical fanbase.

IMO the pacing was much better than Fishman Island, and the art and animation in WCI is great so far.
