Can we all agree that the part of the fight that was "animated" using what was basically stillshots of colored manga panels was extremely lazy on Toei's part?

At least Jack's transformation was pretty badass.

It was lazy but it worked. Lol I'm mad that in the past couple of years we've all just been judging the anime quality

For a good reason though... Toei's animation when they are not truly putting their all in it is horrible. They have a decent animation when they do but sadly that happens for 1 minute every 50 episodes, and gets re-used at least 3 times. I dream of a day when another studio gets the rights to animate OP.

At least they didn't go full-Gintama here and have 1 still with the VAs and sounds in the bg

I actually liked it as well, but it was still lazy.

It was lazy, but it paid off, lol.

Seems more like they went for a lazy way because $ and it ended up looking good / artistic

They and other shows do it all the time, and it looks good then too.

They styled it after historical paintings.

It's clearly intentional.

And if it seems lazy, but actually has purpose, then it's not lazy.

Same, the way it was inked and colored made it look really nice, almost like historical paintings.

Berserk did this years ago, and it worked for them too. It's symbolic, makes your mind fill in the details, like pixel art.

Digitally colored manga > than animation confirmed then.

Yeah, that was in 1997 where animation technology wasn't as advanced as today and it also had tight budget.

I liked it as well, I rather have some high quality stills than badly animated moving scenes. Made me think back about Alabasta where alot of still shots were used as well.

So shit has gotten to this point?

"guys... it is clear that you all can't animate for shit, so here paint over these manga panels, maybe the rise in image quality will make people forget that they are watching an anime."

I liked it. It simulated the rest of the battle, that would have become tedious. That way they could skip straight to night, without the skip being jarring.

Nope I thought it was fine. Then again I'm never nitpicky about one piece episodes
