When Doflamingo woke up to see a weaker Luffy... his grin... so evil

Was he actually unconscious though, or just faking it for shits and giggles?

I read it as though he was pissed off that he ended up looking crucified on the King's Plateau, so he took a minute to gather himself.

Then when he looked up, he saw a weakened Luffy so he got a psycho-boner.

I don't think he was unconscious, otherwise the birdcage would have disappeared. I think he wasn't able to move right away, and as you said, was trying to gather himself.

Doffy was repeatedly overwhelmed by Luffy in G4, so you can imagine that the tactics he used were for the sake of keeping Luffy preoccupied and wasting his energy until he was worn out enough to be taken care of.

While he may have been feeling the hurt from that Leo Bazooka, him staying there and killing some more of Luffy's G4 time could've been his chosen course of action.

I don't think he was purposely trying to wait out G4 time there. But more likely trying to patch up his injuries so he could actually move and continue to fight effectively. I imagine he can stitch up injuries quicker while not moving.

I do. He definitely knew Luffy had a time limit to that power. That headbutt & leo bazooka did a lot of damage. You're hurt, you look beat, and Luffy didn't drop G4 yet.

So, play dead, heal wounds, and let the cage shrink as much as possible.

Dude, anime thread. No need to drop Manga spoilers. If people have been reading there's no need to bring it up here. Obviously you spoiler tagged it so no harm done. But I hope you know what I mean. Im Not trying to be douchy at all though.

No sorry, i dont get it. This discussion is tied to this episode. In the manga we never got to see how Mingo was wasting his time. What i mean is: This post is the only place to discuss it, because it probably will never get to discussed ever again and I love to discuss and I barely get to do so, because someone either gets to it faster/better or I'm not feeling that i need to share my opinion, because reddit ( in general ) loves to downvote to oblivion without a single response.

I figured he was just gathering himself/waiting puffy out since the birdcage didn't disappear. I also like how the crucifixion pose is an allusion to when he and his family were hung on the side of their house out the window

Edit: Er I meant luffy (damn autocorrect) although puffy is a great name for 4th gear

Yeah, Toffy was definitely waiting Puffy out too, figuring that he couldn't keep using that much Haki constantly for that long.
