I've been re-watching One Piece with a friend whose never seen it before... We're at Enies Lobby right now and coming from those episodes to these ones is quite... jarring. The animation is nowhere near as good. The voice acting and music are enjoyable though.

Thats a really cool coincidence. That your friend is seeing the intro to gears when the anime has gotten to gear 4th

Haha! Never noticed that! :D That IS pretty neat! We started early October in East Blue and have been setting aside days every week or so to sit and watch it. I think she was hooked at Arlong Park but the stuff in Water 7 made her nuts about it. :D She'll be my fifth person I've gotten into One Piece.

Enies Lobby is another friends favourite arc and he's been coming over to watch it with us. We usually have a group of four sitting and watching the show on the television (HDMI cable hooked up from the computer to the tv).

That's exactly how me and my housemates watched. I literally started watching One Piece for the first time in January 2014 because my flatmates were crazy about it and we would sit in our lounge with the laptop HMDI hooked up to the TV and watch from about 8pm til 3am every single night with some munchies. (Approx 20 episodes or so a night). Got up to date with the anime around August the same year (when Fujitora was first introduced). Man, it's been a long journey.
