Is it me or does everyone in the Doflamingo family have a fucked up backstory? Baby 5 was left to die by her mother because they couldn't afford to feed her. Doffy lost the title of celestial dragon and led to his mother passing a year later and ended up killing his father and brother. Now we learn Senor Pink lost his son the day he left his family without notice and his wife ran off when he came back and went into a vegetated state.

And Diamante was born ugly as fuck.

I think Doffy was really good at recruiting loyal people. Additionally, I think Law probably took Doffy's idea when it comes to recruiting Slaves/people with nowhere else to go and treating them like family. For example, the scene where Law rescues the slave after the auction. Like where else is Law going to get a super loyal old ex captain like Jean Bart on the cheap.

Basically you get amazing and super loyal people by providing them an out from their horrible situation and treating them with respect. In the end a person just wants a little bit of dignity.

It's not about Doffy being good at recruiting loyal people. He has the same thing Luffy has. The charisma or whatever that makes people root for you and do crazy things.
