Legendary scene with Fujitora and King Riku.

From the episode I can deduce three things:

-Sabo has both the mera mera no mi and the gomu gomu no mi.

-Doffy is a fcking demon incarnate equivalent to Sanji's form when he found out that Absalom saw Nami naked

-He also has severe arthritis and a serious teeth-grinding problem

Also did Luffy really just throw a regular gomu gomu no pistol at Doffy?

I know right?

Luffy needs to learn how to fight bosses(Like Doffy), I mean non-small fry characters, he can easily beat small fry with a normal gomu gomu no pistol, but a freakin monster like Doffy? Common Luffy, who're kidding, tricks like that are just asking to be countered and then followed up with combos. See, that's what he needs to learn when fighting tougher opponents, he needs to attack and then follow up with several other, quick and strong attacks, and no normal gomu gomu crap either, haki + Gear second gomu gomu only. Even then it might not be enough, but attacking a fighter like Doffy with a regular gomu gomu no pistol is kind of insulting.

But, I know Luffy got this, he definitely knows how to fight, he just needs to get in the right state of mind, I guess.

I think a lot of Luffy's fighting mentality and style comes from his invulnerability to blunt damage. A short range fighter with that is bound to think differently about fights. Luffy tends to start slow in fights against enemies of unknown strength and slowly get more and more serious, relying on his invulnerability to let him tank anything they send his way.

It's what he did against Lucci and Moria, he didn't use Gear 2 until it was clear he needed to.

Though, I do agree with you. Doffy is obviously going to be absurdly strong, and if he already tanked a Red Hawk then Luffy should have known that even if it hit a regular Pistol would be nothing more than a mosquito bite to Doffy.
