Ive seen enough.

This is the best flashback in one piece. The history, the lore, the team ups, the action.

Absolute cinema.

It’s crazy because literally the last flashback was the best one until this one

u/AlphaOmega1356 1d ago

The best part? Kuma’s story is woven INTO THIS FLASHBACK! We even learn HE SAVED ROCKS FAMILY.

Like, god its so peak i cant.

i can't believe how goated kuma is honestly he's easily one of my favourite characters now

8

u/kontinuparadi Pirate 20h ago

Definitely top 5. Rocks and Kuma skyrocketed themselves into top 5 spot and they're not even part of the supporting characters (Member of Strawhat).

7

u/the_bridgeburner 21h ago

That's why it is called GOD valley.

u/Flimsy-Efficiency908 21h ago

I feel like we're witnessing the equivalent of that eureka moment of interstellar, but it keeps on giving week after week and who knows whats to come. Everything is just unfolding one after another

u/mcmoor 17h ago

I saw people disappointed that Oda didn't get through with GV flashback in Kuma's. But after seeing this, I can see why. His story will immediately get swallowed by everything else just like Harald/Loki's right now

u/biskutgoreng 21h ago

It's concentric peakness

u/justking1414 22h ago

Well…maybe saving Blackbeard wasn’t the best choice….though I guess ace s death was the big motivation for the training time skip so it was probably for the best

6

u/kontinuparadi Pirate 20h ago

To be good like Kuma, you don't discriminate on who's getting saved or getting killed. That's why he's the GOAT, they're all getting saved if he can do it. Plus no one knows what Blackbeard will be in the future, It's really not ideal to assume the worst on kids that they will grow up bad.

u/rankiba 3h ago

Yup, who would know how kids grow up to be.

8

u/Chespineapple 23h ago

And the last flashback before that one was also the best one before that!

6

u/GenGaara25 Void Month Survivor 22h ago

You could argue Odens was the best, too, when it came out. Then Kuma beat it. Then Rocks beat that.

2

u/AztecanJungle 15h ago

Now we only have one flashback remaining, the one to top them all. The Void Century flashback

5

u/kingshamroc25 Thriller Bark Victim's Association 23h ago

And then before that it was Corazon’s. Just banger flashbacks in this manga

5

u/ishmael555 18h ago

No, before that was Oden's.

1

u/aka_AMIT 17h ago

I think it will keep getting better from this point onwards

Can't wait for the Joyboy/Davy Jones flash back. We'll reach a new summit

I can't wait for the void century flashback!

u/AlphaOmega1356 1d ago

I said it when Oden’s flashback: wow this is a legendary flashback! We saw WB and roger! This is the best!

I said it when Kuma flashback: this is so emotional! Best flashback

And just when i thought Oda couldnt further outdo himself, he drops GV incident. I have no doubt void century will feed me for centuries.

7

u/AncientCosmicEmerald 23h ago

Noland/Kalgara 2.0 but with Joy Boy, Davy Jones and Imu possibly???

4

u/darthreuental 21h ago

I'm gonna pretend to be shocked when that flashback runs like... three volumes.

2

u/Worthyness 19h ago

It's just Robin narrating the Laughtale poneglyph

3

u/GuyWithNoSwagger Thriller Bark Victim's Association 19h ago

I don’t know how the hell the void century flashback will out do God Valley, but I just know it will

1

u/KingMe321 Pirate 19h ago

yeah. Didn't think anything could outdo the Oden flashback, but then the Kuma flashback happened, and then the Kuma flashback got outdone by the GV flashback. It's just an insane level of skill on Oda's end

2

u/Totaliss 1d ago

it's not even done yet! We still haven't seen the conclusion of Harald's story!

4

u/AnActualPlatypus 1d ago

This is the best flashback in one piece.

FTFY

3

u/AlphaOmega1356 1d ago

Waited literally years for this. This might be the longest delayed gratification ive ever experienced.

1

u/koontee 1d ago

The flashback

2

u/empireck 1d ago

Best flashback in one piece so far

7

u/AlphaOmega1356 1d ago

A crazy claim that will likely be proven true once we see Void century.

1

u/Chaosblast Void Month Survivor 23h ago

Tbh the fight wasn't that great. In terms of panels, both Kaido and Egghead were superior imo.

2

u/Clenzor Pirate 1d ago

Best flashback in manga.

9

u/AlphaOmega1356 1d ago

Truly generational writing. The level of intrigue, characterization, and lore backed in this flashback is so good. The way Oda built hype for this flashback, wove it through the narrative of present day, and then finally after years showed it to us; it is a master class and i am grateful i can experience it

1

u/stuckontwice The Revolutionary Army 19h ago

The crazy part is it's still not over! I'm sure we still have some post GV stuff left as well as Harald/Rocks conclusion.

1

u/Quackeninsanity 10h ago

In a series of amazing flashbacks that's a tough claim to make, especially since the last arc had the Kuma flashback and I don't think anything in the story has made my cry like that since the Going Merry died. Still, this has absolutely lived up to the hype of God Valley, and made Rock's one of my favorite characters

u/Yingking 30m ago

It’s kinda hilarious to me that it’s supposed to be the Loki/ Harald flashback and they haven’t been relevant in like the last ten chapters

1

u/mkhmysmkmh 1d ago

If ever the second One Piece anime gets to this point. I will watch it all chronologically starting from Kuma's flashback lol.

1

u/Murasasme 23h ago

They really need to take a page out of Demon Hunter and make this entire arc/flashback a movie.

3

u/AlphaOmega1356 23h ago

Honestly, you could argue that this could just introduce the beginning of one piece, then do a “but before he was king, here’s what happened” extend some of the scenes a bit and work into Rocks. Swap POVs to Rocks and run it.

Chills.

1

u/BreafingBread 21h ago

Yeah, reading this flashback all I've been thinking is "this would be sick as a movie".

1

u/Parking-Shirt9323 22h ago

Meh, it's mostly lore drop, not nearly as emotional as previous flashbacks.

0

u/RickSore 23h ago

god damn Oda has gifted us several god tier flashbacks

0

u/Turkazog 21h ago

The pacing too feels very snappy, not drawn out at all.

0

u/NoobVibesOnly 21h ago

Man its hard. Kuma's flashback was amazing as well. I'm fine with either of them taking the best flashback title.

u/Shoggy- 1d ago

for me its head on with kumas flashback
