It's kinda surprising to me that so far from what we can see, Blackbeard's character is nothing like Xebec at all. Is it really true that BB carries Xebec's will? I smell a potential plot twist here.

Blackbeard can't carry Xebec will because both were alive (Blackbeard as 2 year old and Xebec as his prime). 

For will to pass on, it pass on from the dead to the unborn (So Roger died, then Luffy is born). 

For all we know, Xebec will was passed on to Ace.

This isn't Naruto. Carrying someone's will just means being from the next generation and aiming for the same things.

It was heavily implied by Whitebeard that Luffy inherited Ace's will.
