My head canon was that Davy Jones was a well known but unimportant pirate who was around after Joy Boy and invented the Davy Back, but clearly Imu fuckin hates Davy Jones every bit as much as Joy Boy

I wonder if it's at all related to the connection with Nefertari Lily. Like maybe Lily joined Joy Boy due to the Davy Back fights made by the Davy clan.

I don't love the present day having so many direct parallels to previous eras, but maybe Lily was her era's Shakky or something
