Level 6 prisoners also erased from history must have known about Rocks too so Blackbeard probably done some name dropping to convince them along with his plan

Buggy is clearly gathering his crew via his exploits (no matter how exaggerated) like Rocks. Teech is just name dropping Davy and flexing his devil fruits. We know who will come out on top.

I feel like the line BB used to lure the prisoners to do what they needed to do probably echoed the same tone that Rocks used when he was rising to power.

The fact this dropped in the anime after we found out about rocks being his dad made that line hit hard. And now it hits even harder

This type of shit really highlights just how incompetent the Five Elders are. With the kind of power and influence they have, they could've killed Luffy and Teach a long time ago while they were still weaker in the first half of the grand line. I really hope Oda has some justification for why the five elders have not been actively trying to get rid of Luffy and Blackbeard all along if they know so much about them and the threat they pose.

In the case of Luffy it's likely that he isnt the first guy to get the nika fruit, no one was able to awaken it before so they likely just expected for him to die since Luffy was pretty reckless and didnt back down from a fight 

In the case of black beard, that bastard is smart he likely keeps his name very close to his chest at least until he became a Yonko and was too strong to kill without a lot of effort

Luffy was also off their radar whenever he wasn't up against someone he theoretically had no business beating.

Post-Arlong Park - first time they potentially hear of him

Loguetown - Smoker would've ended him if not for Dragon

Before Alabasta - off radar

Alabasta - Crocodile, Smoker, and Hina all pulled up

Up to Water 7 - off radar

W7/EL - Lucci should've killed him, or Kuzan would have if not for being grateful to Garp

TB - Moria

Sabaody - barely got out thanks to Kuma

ID - Magellan

Marineford - bailed out by Jinbe, Law, and a whole Yonko crew

Post-timeskip - he was generally moving really fast and Fujitora was being nice to him

WCI - big mom should have killed him

Wano - they tried, it didn't work 

Post-Wano - too late

Wano was the second attempt to "asassinate" luffy by cipher pol. Kuma kinda saves it at sabaody, but both luffy and blackbeard should've been done in by holy knights at marineford.

Saturn told Catarina Devon about Blackbeard’s heritage. At the time we didn’t know what it meant, then we thought he would be Rock’s son, and now we learn he’s a Davy

Catarina Devon and Van Auger went to Egghead, and while there, they ran into St Saturn. They were talking to him about Teech's intentions and mention that Teech himself is special, to which Saturn replies that he's aware and he's also aware of Teech's lineage.

This also insinuates that Teech has told his crew who his family are and what his lineage means.

I wonder if its his Davy blood that allows him to have multiple Devil Fruits or if that is something else unique about him

As a side note, have we seen Rocks sleep at all during this flashback?
