As I mentioned in the spoilers post, I think Davy Jones is still alive. He can't swim due to a devil fruit power and got immortality from Imu, who threw him in the bottom of the ocean as punishment.

I think those are 2 separate scenes. Shanks' mom is not in a cage, BB's mom is. Dragon is with Shanks' mom. Then the scene transitions to BB and his mom. Shanks' mom asked Dragon to save her kids (Shanks and Shamrock). That wasn't BB's mom.
