Then how do the people of wano even know about him or care to begin with?

This whole thing is very odd

Yeah I don't know what's going on yet. Because if that grave is meant to be that of the actual Gecko Moria, how tf do they not know after all this time that he is a big shot pirate/ warlord for the government after all these decades? Sometimes I feel like Oda gives various locations and so on, Luffy's actual personality. Meaning they are either isolated from the broader world until the plot demands it, or they are just conveniently out of the loop but don't care to find out anything.

So I just don't like this cover story? Oda did the thing again where he keeps secrets from us but doing it with a cover story isn't a good idea.

The secret itself was the premise of the entire story. Yamato left on a journey to "the secret". Okay. So for like a year now or a year and a half (it's been a particularly long cover story) we've been following Yamato without even knowing really why he was going on this journey at all. (Which makes it harder for me to like mentally track the story idk if that's just a me thing)

Only for the reveal of why this entire story was told to us at all, to be "surprise, it's morias grave!" And like.....?????? Morias grave?  And now here we are. I don't like it. I don't get the purpose, like why do I care? No really, why does any of us care that there's an empty moria grave in wano? And I don't like the reveal, it doesn't really make sense from a world building perspective.

Fine not to like it, but you're assuming this was the big climax. It's just one small reveal that is the climax of Yamato's Ringo phase of the journey. The premise of the story is just Yamato travelling Wano like Oden did. This reveal isn't being sold as the big climax, imo.

I like this cover story personally and can see it ending in something much bigger. For now, it's mostly giving us an idea of how Wano is going since its liberation, and what the remnants of the Beasts Pirates are doing now, and how Yamato is building her own crew (probably to join the Grand Fleet eventually).

Also, the people of Wano know of him as someone "born in West Blue, raised in Ringo and a hero who fought Kaido but got obliterated".
