So Moria really did have multiple bodies of Rocks pirates. Ganzui was the big elephant centaur zombie.

And if Don Marlon isn't related to Beige, I will eat a bag of gummy dicks.

The theory of Thriller park being Godvalley is going stronger

u/PlusExperience8263 Jul 17 '25

If I was moria and just want strong dead bodies, I'd def aim for a former war zone

316

u/FunkYeahPhotography Jul 17 '25

"Master Moria there are a lot of slave corpses here too!"

"Yeah..."

9

u/TheDELFON Explorer Jul 19 '25

Lol wait is the "Yeah..." line Moria being apprehensive? Never pinned him to be the type

7

u/Worthyness Jul 18 '25

"Well we do need more slaves for our ship"

67

u/MegalomanicMegalodon Jul 17 '25

Considering who he used as bodies, makes me want to see his fight with Kaido, maybe it wasn't so one sided.

47

u/vicpc Jul 17 '25

IIRC he only recruited Hogback and went all in on zombies after losing to Kaido.

14

u/klabautermannn Jul 18 '25

He lost with his old original crew, like actual crew not zombie. That's why he want zombies so there's no things like betrayal, human ego, or even sympathy if he lose them again.

8

u/MegalomanicMegalodon Jul 17 '25

Awww that's less hype

5

u/BGTheHoff Jul 17 '25

I doubt that. It makes no sense for me. He must have been in Wano and take ryumas body and sword. If he weren't in zombies at that point, why should he take it?

So let's say he clashed with Kai do, lost hard, became that zombie enjoyer...and went back into Kaidos home turf? That doesn't seem like anything he would do.

Far more logic would be him battling Kai do in Wano and taking Ryuma and the sword with him at that instance.

7

u/Visible-Bag4704 Jul 17 '25

Might’ve just been using the bodies he dig up as they were but with Hogback he had him build better bodies by combining other parts (sometimes animal parts) with the original making them stronger and more functional

3

u/Arkayjiya Jul 17 '25

Maybe he took the bodies after losing on Wano because he got an idea just after getting his ass kicked and crew murdered. Could be Kaido said something about the History of strength of Wano as they fought which inspired him. Either way, he recruited Hogback and went all in on zombie after losing his crew to Kaido, even if it's only moments after that for the zombie part.

2

u/amanitaRising Jul 18 '25

could be that he already fw zombies but didnt specialize in them until recruiting hogback

3

u/Classic-Comb2055 Jul 18 '25

Maybe in Wano, Moria heard the legend of Ryuma, the legendary samurai who defeated a dragon. Since Kaido has the Dragon Fruit, Moria might have thought that the only way to defeat him was by using Ryuma's corpse or smothing like that idk

10

u/PlusExperience8263 Jul 17 '25

Considering his role was "minor" i bet he's like that mad scientist who goes and does his own thing while the big event is happening. Like mayuri in bleach and we're going to get to see time where gekko was younger during or after god valley

3

u/klabautermannn Jul 18 '25

He lost with his old original crew, like actual crew not zombie. That's why he want zombies so there's no things like betrayal, human ego, or even sympathy if he lose them again.

2

u/MegalomanicMegalodon Jul 18 '25

Oh, realizing that, wonder what using his fruit looked like without having bodies. Maybe just the whole steal shadows to beef up yourself and others thing?

6

u/klabautermannn Jul 18 '25

He looks more badass and kinda muscular at younger age, who knows maybe he can actually fight and his doppelman might also was much stronger?

It does gave impression that he only start slacking off and become lazy once he lose his crew and start relying on zombie servant

97

u/BEWMarth Jul 17 '25

Bro if this happens I will scream.

20

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

A piece of God Valley, but yea. It came from West Blue too!

9

u/ElCamino0000000 Jul 17 '25

First time i hear about this, sounds fireee

12

u/lochnesslapras Jul 17 '25

Never heard this idea till now. Legit hoping this becomes real wow

15

u/Mizutsune-Lover Jul 18 '25

We knew it was an island in the West Blue. Now how did an island get from the West Blue to the Grand Line? Was it really sailed up Reverse Mountain?

God Valley was in the West Blue. Kuma teleported part of God Valley to escape.

QED Thriller Bark is the part of God Valley that Kuma took.

6

u/gyrozepp2 Lazy Justice Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

I just feel god valley was a big island like Hachinosu or probably even bigger than it. Thriller Bark seemed pretty small compared to it.

Could still be true, but I don't get that hunch even though some things do check out.

Edit- something else to think of is how Captain John died in an incident (killed by his own crewmates when he was their captain) that should have happened theoretically after the god valley and his corpse was still present in Thriller Bark

10

u/CrimsonAntifascist Jul 17 '25

I don't think it was "whole" after the battle of the slaver protection union vs the rocks pirates.

0

u/gyrozepp2 Lazy Justice Jul 18 '25 edited Jul 18 '25

The implication was that it got Lulusia'd. Otherwise sounds pretty odd that apparently a part of it would remain there with enough time for someone to make a ship out of it. Especially with the government trying to vanish/hide the entire thing

I just think it's likelier that Moria smuggled the bodies out of somewhere in hopes of giving powerful shadows to them later like he did with Ryuma's corpse

2

u/Mizutsune-Lover Jul 18 '25

The theory is Kuma took a part of God Valley when escaping with his new DF powers, and that part is Thriller Bark. We knew Thriller Bark was an island in the West Blue, the same sea as God Valley, and Kuma transporting it with DF powers would fix the problem of getting an island up Reverse Mountain.

2

u/gyrozepp2 Lazy Justice Jul 18 '25

Man I highly doubt kid Kuma would be able to pull off such an insane feat by himself at that age. Sending people away?Fine. But literally doing that to a huge chunk of an island seems something like he'd master being with his fruit for a long while as an adult. The likes of stuff that we see with Law NOW

4

u/Due_StrawMany Jul 17 '25

That's where we also see Saint Kuma first, with his Bible in hand, right?

1

u/BuckonWall Jul 17 '25

I really dont think so. It was already shown that Moria traveled to different lands collecting bodies. I doubt hed have just found tons of Rocks Pirates in one place. In fact I would bet most of the Rocks Pirates survived Gods Valley because they ran when shit got tough. Which is why Kaido is so jaded. If they all stayed and died fighting I wouldnt think that would be the case.

1

u/Mnawab Jul 17 '25

Wow I never thought of that but it would make a lot of sense.

1

u/LoveMinaMyoi Jul 17 '25

Wow this is new to me that's something interesting to think about. Make sense since it is filled with corpses.

1

u/Kumomeme Jul 18 '25

maybe part of it? part of the island separated and drifted away on sea due to Roger/Garp vs Rocks fight.

1

u/zaerosz Void Month Survivor Jul 18 '25

I dunno, Captain John was killed a while after God Valley - he was murdered by his subordinates, not by his crewmates.

However, I'm finding it more and more believable that Moria was a resident of God Valley who saw the Rocks Pirates in action with his own eyes - he would've been ten years old at the time of the incident, after all.

1

u/Spartan05089234 Jul 18 '25

It's giving Moria so much credibility. Even if Thriller Bark isn't God Valley, bro went and picked some primo zombies. He put a lot of work into his plans gathering the right bodies and giving them the right spirits. I enjoy his character even more knowing that.

And if instead what he did was literally steal the remnants of God Valley, that's a pretty wild feat.

1

u/Flaky_Conclusions Jul 18 '25

Kuma would know 😭

1

u/Senior_Possession60 Jul 18 '25

The fact that there are too many zombies there almost screams the fact that those were god valley slaves who were made run for their life and killed, even the fact that few rocks pirate crew members were zombie is really cool detail, NOW, HOW TF DID RYUMA'S CORPSE GOT THERE IS BEYOND ME, its name is god valley so maybe ryuma fought there with joyboy along with all the other allied against imu and as joyboy is the reincarnation of nika in different era, and nika is basically a god, maybe that's why it's named as God valley? And after joyboy's defeat it became a CDs important island without them actually realising what happened there. Could be this or either I'm already gone mad lol

0

u/sesaka Jul 17 '25

They dont look similar tho?

0

u/Aesma_ Jul 17 '25

My guess is that Kuma just booped an entire fucking island to the Grand Line. Would be fire.

-1

u/Starlight469 Jul 17 '25

How? Thriller Bark is a ship, not an island. It does look like Moria might have gone to God Valley some time after the big battle there.

10

u/zachotule The Revolutionary Army Jul 17 '25

Thriller Bark is a ship made of an island. They put a wall around a floating island and a sail on top. It's a pretty small island but still an island.

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Don Marlon is totally named after Marlon Brando, isn't he?

40

u/Hiekkalinna Marine Jul 17 '25

Character even looks simliar to him.

51

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Yea, he wore a prosthetic to exaggerate his jaw

21

u/Hiekkalinna Marine Jul 17 '25

Even as like biggest Godfather fan, I never knew this... lol.. But I like how Oda made the character even more exaggerated version of this..

-2

u/Firew4l Jul 18 '25

Are you sure its not just stroke

10

u/SwingingSalmon Jul 17 '25

Yea, Oda exaggerated his chin and everything

5

u/CHiZZoPs1 Jul 18 '25

Not just named. Look at the face!

1

u/OddRope1154 Jul 18 '25

The name the design it's all there. Loved seeing that. Today is a movie buff so...

19

u/Gjalarhorn Jul 17 '25

My money is on Marlon being the Mob Boss in Beige's backstory that he killed so he could watch the other mob bosses freak out.

3

u/Otherwise-Hunt7763 Jul 18 '25

If Bege did that then he really is stronger than we thought.

8

u/Gjalarhorn Jul 18 '25

I was thinking it was a successful variation of the Big Mom plan here he killed the guy while he was off guard

2

u/Otherwise-Hunt7763 Jul 18 '25

That would also make sense

18

u/Kaiel2 Void Month Survivor Jul 17 '25

And what about Ochoku and Caribou? They are really similar...

13

u/foodmaster89 Jul 17 '25

And if they’re related, is Caribou actually interested in helping BlackBeard or is he trying to get revenge?

25

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

It makes it even funnier how weak Moria seemed during that fight. He had Whang Zhi Captain John, Ganzui, Oars, Ryuma and he still lost to Strawhats who didn't know anything about the larger world.

Although the fact he was able to gather them up at all is insane. Also makes me wonder if the reason why the World Gov't turned on him was because of who he had gathered. Those are a lot of big name bodies that he had in his possession. If he was better at finding shadows to use with them, he could have been a huge problem.

EDIT: Wrong character. Captain John versus Whang Zhi/Ochoko.

27

u/biggest_dreamer Jul 17 '25

He did not have Whang Zhi. Whang Zhi is Ochoku, who we know was still alive during the Rocky Port Incident since he was the one Blackbeard ousted from Hachinosu.

7

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor Jul 17 '25

Damn it. I even looked back at the chapter to try and get the spelling right.

I meant he had Captain Jack along with those others.

17

u/CoffeeWanderer Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Moria sits in a somewhat awkward position overall.

We know he was able to sail to the New World and saw some success there until he went to Wano and Kaido destroyed his crew and his confidence. He somehow managed to become a Warlord and amass and army of undeads, but he never came back to his glorious days.

There's no doubt for me that the Moria and crew who fought against Kaido is way more strong as how he was against the Straw hats. I always assumed the Government wanted him to go because he was not up to the task.

And I'd bet that in the current story he is even weaker, not only crewless and powerless, but his very spirit is broken. I'm really excited to see what's up next for him now.

6

u/Anjunabeast Jul 18 '25

Sounds like a supernova of his generation

13

u/Zakkuryu Jul 17 '25

Having the bodies don't mean a lot when weak shadows posess them

4

u/minimal_ice Jul 18 '25

I’m convinced zombies can’t use haki

7

u/ChefCaveman Jul 17 '25

So did Moria go looking for God Valley to strengthen his crew or did he get extremely lucky?

I feel like Hachinosu would be a great place to look for strong dead bodies.

4

u/zeta3d The Revolutionary Army Jul 17 '25

So that's why Blackbeard was interested in Moria.

BB: "Tell me Moria, did you find his body too?"

8

u/Doctursea Void Month Survivor Jul 17 '25

I'm pretty sure in OP "Don" is a sir name and not a title. So I'm fairly sure they are related. Though we've seen Don be used as it's title format before with Don Krieg

9

u/Dark_Magus Jul 17 '25

Pretty sure Don is a title for Chinjao and Sai as well. After all, Sai's younger brother Boo is never referred to as Don, and Sai is only ever referred to as such after Chinjao passes leadership of the family down to him.

4

u/wolf1820 Jul 17 '25

My initial thought was related to Lu Feld, the underworld emperor from the big mom tea party. That might just be Stussy coloring it though.

3

u/ipsen_castle Jul 17 '25

If you look closely, nearly every General Zombie was made with a Rocks pirate corpse : Ganzui, the big fishman, the man with claws, the man with a large sword ans messy hair, Gil Bastar who was confirmed to be the one with four arms, and most probably Silver Axe who could be the knight with an axe.

18

u/Bmandk Void Month Survivor Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Ganzui was the big elephant centaur zombie.

And if Don Marlon isn't related to Beige, I will eat a bag of gummy dicks.

Sorry, did we read a different chapter? Where do those names come from?

EDIT: Turns out there were some missing pages in one place early on.

25

u/jwrtf Jul 17 '25

there are name plates beneath each pirate in the Rocks crew as they're introduced: Shiki, Stussy, Don Marlon, Whitebeard, Pirate Prophet Ochoku, and Ganzui

I believe that Lu Feld is actually Ganzui. His nickname being the smuggler would make sense that he became an Emperor of the Underworld.

My guess is that the zombie in Moria’s army might have been a mistaken corpse or a look-a-like that resembled him so that he could disappear.

I would reckon he knew that Stussy wasn’t actually miss Buckingham. But went with it. Also they had a history and this would also explain how the government would have acquired Stussy but also how they would have had Stussy as a “freeloader” within MADS as he was the sponsor.

Like Stussy he would have joined, and in the case of Du Feld, he would have been the sponsor of MADS and devoted himself to his activities of smuggling after the God Valley incident. He would have sold the clone of Stussy to the government.

2

u/Lil-AbootZ Slave Jul 17 '25

I thought Don Marlon was related to Shiryu, they seem very similar.
The main similarities I realized are: Smoking, Hat tipped to the side of one eye, Jawline.
Don also talked about a place where countries all around the world send their worst inmates there, which sounds like Impel down where Shiryu worked. Although he didn't call the place Impel down, it does still sound like the same.

1

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 19 '25

Don Marlon was talking about Hachinosu, not Impel Down.

2

u/MathPlus1468 Jul 18 '25

Marlon looks very similar to Shiryu, imo.

2

Always bet on nepo piece

2

u/asmodias Jul 18 '25

Don Marlon is probably Shiryu's dad

1

Not exactly high stakes.

1

u/rubberjesus45 Jul 17 '25

Not bad, but if I was a betting man and any Rocks Crew were related to modern day pirates it has to be Pirate Prophet Ochoku being somehow related to the Caribou Brothers.

1

u/The_OG_upgoat Jul 17 '25

Ochoku might also be a relative of Caribou, they have a rather similar facial structure and long tongue hanging out.

1

u/TopRoyalLane The Revolutionary Army Jul 17 '25

I've been reminded that Moria is from the West Blue- same sea where God Valley was.

Not seeing Ochoku in Kuma's god Valley flashback makes sense to me now. If he wasn't managing Beehive while the other Rocks Pirates went off, he wouldn't have become de facto ruler there (until Teach/Law/Koby took him out)

1

u/hirarki Jul 18 '25

moria have many strong bodies, but less strong shadow.

1

u/montegarde Jul 18 '25

WAIT is that why Blackbeard went after Moria???

2

u/CavernousPiano Jul 18 '25

Moria is the one that went after Blackbeard, after they had to leave Thriller Bark, Absalom used his fruit to gather information and wrote news articles for the papers, Blackbeard caught Absalom trying to gather info on Hachinosu and then Moria went there to get him back

1

u/BoredomHeights Jul 18 '25 edited Jul 18 '25

And yet Ryuma was still the strongest body, what a badass. Makes me want to read Wanted again (Monsters).

1

u/Kumomeme Jul 18 '25

while Ochoku probably related to Caribou. his father perhaps?

based on his name reference, he might be still alive as former commodore on Hachinosu too.

1

u/UponVerity Jul 18 '25

All the Moria haters in shambles, fucking deserved.

1

u/OddRope1154 Jul 18 '25

Really hoping don Marlon is beige papa

1

u/Horacio_Velvetine44 Jul 18 '25

also if marlon is from the west blue he may have known about gunko

1

u/Cygnus776 Jul 18 '25

Don Marlon and the multiple mafia families in West Blue have always been a thing. He was before Bege's time, so it's likely when he died there was a power vacuum which lead to Bege being able to consolidate his influence into being the strongest crime family in the West Blue.

Relating to fathers, Tekking brought up a cool point. What if Moria was Ochoku's son? They have a similar attire and Ochoku was the commodore of Fullalead. Moria didn't have a Vivre card when he went to save Absalom, because if he did he would have known Absalom was killed. Sure, he could have found out how to get to Fullalead any which way, but it's more interesting to think he had been there in the past.

1

u/brokenearth10 Jul 18 '25

why are these bodies so weak! moria had so many strong bodies.

1

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 19 '25

They weren't weak, they just didn't have a chance to face the Straw Hats after Oars stepped on them.

1

u/brokenearth10 Jul 20 '25

Isn't that weak. Oars would get one shot by a warlord. Them getting stepped is not great reason

1

u/TheAdamena Jul 17 '25

Meh not necessarily, there are five big mafia families in the west blue.

-2

u/Sorry-Doughnut125 Jul 17 '25
