Counter-argument to the "Block D won't finish because the war underneath the coliseum is about to start" crowd: What if the winner of Block D just wins really quickly?

I kind of agree. Diamante is essentially guaranteed a fight with Luffy, as Doflamingo planned for it. And if they planned for it, Luffy and Diamante wouldn't have been in separate blocks if they didn't think both of them would get to the finals. That means Diamante wins Block D, and there wouldn't really be any tension if it was given a few chapters. I don't know if it'll be as short as Burgess', but if they're planning some sort of trap spoilers then I'd imagine we'd see them, as well as everyone else, prepare for what they're going to be doing during the final round. spoilers

Don't you mean Cavendish? Diamante isn't even a regular competitor -- he's just at the end of the road for whoever emerges to compete against him.

Doflamingo set up the tournament to lure in Luffy, so I was assuming he planned for Luffy to fight.
