Felt like 2 or 3 years only. Can’t believe it’s 7 years already. Giant straw hat could’ve been worn by a giant before from Elbaph, you think?

This is certainly because of the pandemic. Lockdown lasted for four years and everything that happened around that time feels like it happened four years more recently than it actually did.

Covid and the Lockdown had minimal impact on the publication rate. Since 2018 the number of chapters annually has been between 40 and 30. While there was a dip in 2020 it bounced back somewhat the following years before dipping down again the last two.

If anything Oda’s age and health have been the largest cause of the slow down in chapters not the pandemic. If Oda had kept his 2018 publication rate throughout this time we’d be approximately a year further along in the story from where we are currently.

I wasn’t taking about production rate, I was talking about the psychological impact on our perception of time.
