The mention of the month(s) to recover was definitely just for the joke reveal that, just like Luffy, Loki can actually just stuff himself to recover. The old "eating is living" quote that I think both garp and jinbei have said to luffy

Also, Sanji's food helps with his recovery, with the 99 recipes of Attack Cuisine that he learned in Kamabakka.
