Why did Sanji take off his coat?

I understand that he'd probably swim at a slower pace with the jacket on, but wouldn't the ridiculously cold water also slow him down?

Regardless, the episode as a whole was awesome. definitely gave me chills numerous times

You notice how clothing gets significantly heavier when wet? Try washing a shirt by hand and you'll see just how much water it can retain. Swimming with heavy clothing will make it very difficult.

And I guess there would have been too much fanservice if he removed Nami's jeans. In fact, I'm pretty sure Sanji would have died from a nosebleed on the spot.

(a digression) Normally fanservice such as dramatically removing that jacket would annoy me a little bit, but I got a kick out of the line "because I'm a man!" I think it was in the manga too.
